I have been illegally feeding abandoned cats at Lydgate park for years. Those of us who do this, and tnr, and foster, would much rather have a legal way to care for these animals. A sanctuary would be good for the human community, cat community And bird community.

I have been volunteering with Kccp for a couple f years and always amazed how much they do with just a handful of people and no building! SPCA too! With Just a network of dedicated fosters. Love love love these two non-profits!

Exciting News!! Kauai SPCA is incredibly thrilled to announce a significant milestone in our ongoing mission to serve the community and its beloved pets. We have been awarded a $200,000 grant from the JR Peterson Foundation to host three monthly free spay/neuter clinics, with a focus on addressing the needs of both cat and dog populations across the island. Found on Kuhio hwy, Anahola just south of Whaler’s. Beige collar. No tags. Sweet. Healthy. Tired. Looks like she may have had a litter of pups recently. My scanner did not detect a chip. She’s sleeping at my house tonight. And a friend is taking her to KHS in the morning.

After over ten years on the east side, ReStore Kauai is being asked to leave. The one person who has been working there/ running the place for more than ten years ever since the actual lease holder ran away from the island, would like to continue keeping useful items out of Kauai’s landfill and selling them for about $2. Without ReStore Kauai, our landfill will continue to overflow and there will be more illegal dumping on the east side. ReStore has operated for all these years at a cost of Zero Dollars to the county and state. Maybe a lot could be made available somewhere else on Hawaiian Homelands or near the transfer station by the airport. In addition to accepting large useful items, ReStore also provides free clothes to Kapaa’s houseless population every weekday. Kauai, especially the east side, needs to try to save this junk yard. The negative impact of it closing will be felt immediately and be long lasting. ReStore’s last day in their current location in Kapaa Town is February 29th.
