In our line of work, we are used to getting the tough calls. The calls about terrible automobile accidents, tragic drownings, house and vehicle fires, and the medical calls that end in devastation. We get the calls that come on people's worst days. However, nothing gets much worse than taking a call about one of your own, but that's what she was. Girlene, GiGi, was one of us, and she will be forever in our hearts. As a community of Operators, Telecommunicators, Dispatchers or whatever our respective agencies refer to us as, we grieve for the loss of another as if they were blood kin. We know the difference they made in the lives of every call they took and gave. This agency sheds tears and yet holds our head high knowing that GiGi would just want us to keep doing our best to serve our communities and protect our partners. She would say, "Don't be sad for me! You just keep on answering those calls."
So, that's what we will do. We will keep on doing what she expects us to do. We will serve and we will protect, from our side of the radio and telephone. We will do this to honor her and all she loved and stood for.
Always answering the call...no matter what.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved dispatcher, Girllene Wiggins (Gigi) who passed away late yesterday afternoon.
For more than 20 years, Girllene has faithfully served our department as a dispatcher. She was a friend, a trusted coworker, and a valued member of our law enforcement family. Her dedication, compassion, and wonderful sense of humor touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside her.
Please keep Girllene’s family, friends, and our department in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. She will be deeply missed, but her memory, laughter, and the countless lives she impacted will never be forgotten!
