We are pleased to announce that our center will be open to the public for an open house and ribbon cutting at our location; 300 West Watson Street Andalusia, Alabama 36420, on July 1, 2026. We are very excited to show our communities what has been done with the remodel of our center. To include new technology and much more room. Please, if you can find time, come by between the hours of 12 noon and 3:00 pm. We plan to have a ribbon cutting at 1:00pm.
Bring your children to ask questions about 911 and such, we will have a few things to hand out while supplies last.
In order to walk through our COMM CENTER, you will have to sign a confidentiality form. This is due to the sensitive information that flows through our center and strict guidelines that must be upheld.
This will be a come and go as you like event. No RSVP is needed.
We hope to see YOU there!

Hears a thought to consider…

MYTH: You should hang up if you accidentally call 911.

FACT: Stay on the line and let the telecommunicator know it was accidental.

Accidental 911 calls happen, but hanging up can create confusion and may result in a callback or dispatch to confirm your safety.

If you call 911 by mistake, the best thing you can do is stay on the line and clearly communicate that there is no emergency.

Tuesday and Wednesday of this week a few of us were able to participate in the ALTERT (Alabama Telecommunicators Emergency Response Taskforce) Training class. The amazing class was presented by ALTERT Coordinator, Kristi Stamnes and ALTERT Deputy Coordinator Jeff Dempsy. The training offers our agency the availability to be deployed to other agencies around the state and beyond if disaster strikes. It allows us to be a part of something bigger than ourselves.
Thanks to everyone that had a hand in delivering this amazing opportunity. The class presented was very thorough and informative. If you would like more information on ALTERT and their capabilities, check out https://www.alabamatert.com
