Citizens of Anna, this is a Public Service Reminder:

Recently business owners and church pastors have noted individuals are utilizing business owned trash and recycling canisters for personal garbage disposal. While they understand economic issues facing all citizens, they do not wish to continue finding garbage in their recycling containers.

Please remember that placing your trash in receptacles you do not own is a criminal offense in the state of Illinois.

Both business owners and church pastors have stated if they continued to find garbage in their recycling containers, they will press charges against the responsible parties.

Citizens of Anna:

This week is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Week.

At this time, the Anna Police Department wishes to thank and acknowledge our partner agencies: Jonesboro Police Department and Union County Sheriff's Office.

We appreciate all the hard work, dedication, and professional service you provide to our communities and citizens each and every day.

We also recognize our Union County Dispatchers who make sure our citizens receive the services they need.

Last, but certainly not least, the Anna Police Department wishes to thank and acknowledge the Union County State's Attorney Office. Your efforts to halt criminal activity and help victims is the ultimate goal of every law enforcement agency.

This week, the Anna Police Department also stands with all our law enforcement agencies nationwide as we remember those whom we have lost this year. You are gone but never forgotten.

Stay safe.

Citizens of Anna we bring you another Fraud Warning:

Recently residents have been receiving scam calls claiming to be from Publishers Clearing House. The scammers are requesting Amazon gift cards as part of their fraudulent activities. Please do not send gift cards, money, or personal information to people who call you unless you know them personally and are expecting their request.

If you have been a victim of a scam, please report this to your local police agency.

Please pass this along to friends and family, especially those most likely to be targeted for fraud.

Citizens of Anna:

This evening one of our amazing residents and his son located a bike they believed was previously stolen and abandoned. They turned this in to the police station.

If you are missing a Mongoose brand bike kitted for street travel, please come to the police station with proof of ownership so it can be released to you.

To our resident who found this bike and drove it to our police station, we thank you for showing the care and neighborly spirit of our city.

As always, stay safe and thank you for watching over each other.
