Tonight is Bring a Friend Night for the FCS Youth Choruses! Parents, if you are interested in our programs, tonight is the perfect night to come and observe musicianship classes and rehearsals! We will be holding our rehearsals and class at Annandale United Methodist Church from 4:45-7:45, with a micro-schedule below. We hope to see you tonight!

5-7 year olds: 5:00-6:30 pm | Rehearsal: 5:00-5:45 pm | Musicianship: 5:45-6:30 pm

7-10 year olds: 5:00-6:30 pm | Musicianship: 5:00-5:45 pm | Rehearsal: 5:45-6:30 pm

The Symphonic Chorus is proud to inaugurate the 2023-24 season of the Fairfax Choral Society with a FREE CONCERT as a part of the St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church Concert Series. Works by Biebl, Hopson, Mozart, Howells, Rutter, Schubert, and Stanford will be accompanied by brass, strings, percussion and the 51-rank Peragallo Pipe Organ. AND IT'S FREE! Come and celebrate some of the masterworks of the sacred repertoire. Did we mention it's FREE?

Ireland Day 8 - Pulling up on the bus for a visit to the Belfast Peace Walls. Originally erected as a temporary security border between the mostly Irish Catholic area and the mostly Protestant area of people who identified as British, the walls over the years have extended 21 miles and have been covered with social artwork, graffiti-style drawings, memorials, protest symbols and colorful murals.

Ireland Trip Day 7 - FCS Performance at Christ Church in Dublin. "Christ Church Cathedral has stood at the heart of Dublin for almost 1,000 years. Many visitors from all over the world are welcomed to this important heritage site every day." Enjoy this clip of their performance at this historic church.

Ireland Day 6 - The Book of Kells is a Celtic Gospel book thought to have been made by Irish monks in the 8th century. The most famous page is the Chi Rho, a shortened version of Christ’s name in Greek. This national treasure is housed at Trinity College Library in Dublin.

Plus a shout out to family and friends back in Fairfax from Joanna, Maritza, Emma, Martin, David and Steve the Tour Guide (off camera). HELLO back at you. The choruses here are enjoying some pub time at the hotel.

Ireland Day 4... Many people know the Titanic left from England, but a little-known stop occurred the next day in Queensland, Ireland on April 11, 1912, at 11:30am to pick up more passengers, crew and supplies. This marker documents the fateful location.

And FCS made some time to pucker up to the Blarney Stone, since no trip to Ireland is complete without a visit to the Blarney Castle. Tourists from all over Fairfax lol and the world come to kiss the Stone. "There is a stone there, that whoever kisses, oh he never misses, to grow eloquent."

Day 3 - Today's journey brought the FCS through the colorful Celtic neighborhoods of Kinsale, Ireland and here they found the fairies hideout! This mean good luck and magical wishes are on the way.

A pop-up concert at the Rock of Cashel‼️ Also called the Cashel Tower, Cashel of the Kings, St. Patrick’s Rock, the original structure goes back to the 4th century and remains one of world’s most important early medieval architectural structures. Through the centuries it has been home to religious leaders, royalty, political families and served as a refuge during times of unrest. It is now a historical site. Summer reading - ✔️. Fun Fact… the FCS had their first commissioned piece in 1969, Four Marain Tableaux by David F. Shaw. To celebrate 30 years, they commissioned Robert Twynham for a piece, A Gift of Freedom.

Fast forward to March 11, 2023, the FCS 60th Anniversary Gala, where they will debut their latest commissioned piece by award-winning producer and composer Nolan Williams, Jr., The Plains of Peace. They will be joined by guest choir Children's Chorus of Washington and feature Soprano Simone Z. Paulwell.

Hosted by Tommy McFly this will be the thing everyone’s talking about for months to come. Don’t miss out on the celebration:
