Thank You, CoVantage Cares!
The Town of Antigo Volunteer Fire Department would like to extend our sincere gratitude to CoVantage Cares for their generous $5,000 donation toward the purchase of a new set of firefighter turnout gear.
This contribution is a significant investment in the safety of our firefighters and the communities we proudly serve. Our department currently has 25 active volunteer firefighters providing fire protection, first responder EMS, hazardous materials response, rescue services, wildland fire suppression, and public fire safety education for the Townships of Antigo, Polar, and Price, as well as assisting neighboring departments through mutual aid.
A complete set of turnout gear—including a coat, pants, helmet, hood, suspenders, gloves, and boots—costs more than $5,000. Proper turnout gear is essential to protecting firefighters from extreme heat, smoke, hazardous materials, and other life-threatening dangers encountered during emergency responses. As an all-volunteer department with a limited equipment budget, replacing outdated gear is a continual challenge.
The CoVantage Cares grant will help equip one of our newest firefighters with NFPA-compliant protective gear, allowing them to safely respond to emergencies and better protect the lives and property of the nearly 3,000 residents in our fire district, as well as those in surrounding communities we assist through mutual aid.
We are especially proud that several of our newest members come from the Amish and Mennonite communities, demonstrating the spirit of volunteerism and service that strengthens our department and our community.
