A little about myself…
My name is Terry (T.J.) Nelson, Jr. and I reside on a small cattle farm on Highway 51 North, Arkadelphia (Joan) in east Clark County. I am currently the Academic Advisor for Educational Talent Search at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia. Previously I have served as Educational Talent Search Counselor at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and served as Assistant Director of Educational Talent Search at OBU. I am the founder and owner of DJ Last Minute Entertainment, also known as “T.J. the DJ”🎧🎶, founded in 2005. I’m currently Vice President of the Arkadelphia Chamber Board, Arkadelphia Alliance Board Member, member of the Arkadelphia Downtown Committee, and the Arkadelphia Rotary Club. Regarding my education, I am a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University in 2004 and Arkadelphia High School class of 1999. I’m a lifelong member of the Mt. Morriah Missionary Baptist Church in Arkadelphia. I was chosen as a 1998 Washington Youth Tour participant for South Central Electric, completed the Fast Track Small Business Entrepreneurial Program at Henderson State University in 2010, a Graduate of the Clark County Leadership Class III in 2011, a Boys and Girls Club Board Member from 2013-2015, member of the Arkansas Association of Student Assistance Programs, the Southwest Association of Student Assistance Programs, and a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. I’m the proud son of retired NFL football player Terry Nelson and the late Frances Eason-Nelson who served the Board of Directors of South Central Electric for twenty-two years. I am married to my beautiful wife Shanea Nelson, Ph.D., and the father of two amazing girls, Mary Grace and Emerie Frances Nelson.
