**For immediate release**

Due to financial hardships beyond our control, Valor EMS ceased operations at 0900 this morning. Pafford Medical Services has agreed assume 911 services and non-emergent transports for Clark and Dallas Counties.

I want to thank each one of our team members as well as those out in the communities we serve for your support.

I want to be very clear that Pafford did not pressure this decision in any way but did offer options to ensure that there was zero lapse in coverage of ambulance services.

I have chosen to accept a leadership position with Pafford to continue to provide care for the communities we love and have encouraged our team members to do the same.

Morgan Barker has been part of the EMS community for 14 years and currently serves as an EMT at Valor EMS. Inspired at a young age after the loss of her mother to a brain aneurysm, Morgan knew she wanted to help others in their most critical moments.

Her career has been both challenging and rewarding — allowing her to be there for people on their hardest days and their best outcomes. When she’s not working, Morgan enjoys spending time with her wife and kids, appreciating every moment together.

How to Help Someone Having a Seizuređźš‘

Seeing someone experience a seizure can be scary — but staying calm and knowing what to do can truly make a difference.

Here’s how you can help:

🔹 Stay with the person
Make sure the area is safe and remove anything nearby that could cause injury.

🔹 Turn them on their side
This helps keep their airway open and prevents choking.

🔹 Support their head with something soft
A folded jacket, blanket, or pillow works well.

🔹 Do not put anything in their mouth
It’s a myth that someone can swallow their tongue — putting objects in their mouth can cause serious harm.

🔹 Time the seizure
If it lasts longer than 5 minutes, call emergency services immediately.

Once the seizure ends, stay with them until they are fully awake and aware. Offer reassurance — confusion and fatigue afterward are completely normal.

👉 If this is their first seizure or they’re injured, they should receive medical attention.

Your calm actions can help keep someone safe until help arrives.
