CALL TO ACTION:
Charlie was just a young kid when I first met him. Charlie was just starting Turning Point and I was the state chair of YAL. Youth organizing was our passion and he would invite me to speak at his events and he would help with mine. We attended Harper together (he famously dropped out), we phone banked for Rauner and Dold together at the ROWT office, and I announced my campaign on his first TV show The Quad.
While Charlie was creating a national movement, the realities of Illinois politics caused me to silence my own voice, because it seemed impossible to make a difference in this state. I was so proud to see Charlie take up that torch for all of us who felt silenced.
Two weeks before Charlie's death, I texted him about the day I was a guest on his first show The Quad. He texted me back and we enjoyed a laugh about that moment. If this man who was talking with Presidents, Senators, and other important figures had time to respond to an an old buddy (and he always found the time), than I need to take time to stand up for him.
Please join me! Together we can make this happen!
Charlie deserves recognition as a notable alumni and distinguished Alumni at Wheeling High School. Please take action with me by contacting the district 214 Board President Alva Kruetzer at [email protected]
Tell her we will not stop until Charlie's memory receives notable and Distinguished Alumni honors at Wheeling High School and it is displayed proudly at the school.
Please like and share this post if you agree, to help spread the word across the district!
