September is Su***de Prevention Month. If we say we care about our students then we have to make sure they know we care about them in all the ways.

They are more than a test.
They are more than their class rank.
They are more than a checked attendance box.
They are more than a body in a seat.
They are more than their IG page follower count
They are more than a grade on a report card.
They are more than a college acceptance letter.
They are more than their athletic stats.
They are more than a starting position or a spot on a team.
They are more than the number on a scale.
They are more than a friend group.
They are more than a relationship status.
They are more than their mistakes.
They are more than their worst day.
They are more than the expectations placed on them.
They are more than what someone said about them.
They are more than what they see when they look in the mirror.
They are more than what they think they have to achieve to make us proud.

💙 They ARE someone’s child.
💙 They ARE someone’s friend.
💙 They ARE someone’s whole world.

Their lives hold value today, tomorrow and in the future. And they need to know that their life matters far more than anything we could ever measure about it.

All month long I will be posting from time to time regarding Su***de Prevention month. I encourage you to share, speak out and take the shame away from mental health stigma.

If you are passionate about AISD, have concerns, ideas, or just want to be more involved in helping shape the future of our district, I hope you’ll take a few minutes to read the article below and consider applying to serve on an AISD Resident Committee.

This is a great opportunity to give direct feedback in person, learn more about where our district is right now, and most importantly, help shape where we go from here.

We are also looking for people who are currently serving on a committee and would like to continue. If you have served before and want to continue serving, you still need to fill out the application again.

The direct link to the online application is in the first comment. I hope some of my FB friends, haters, FB Keyboard warriors and biggest critics of Pub Ed/AISD will take advantage of this opportunity to get involved and have a voice in the future of AISD!

Applications for the committees are open now and will close at the end of the month.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Applications are NOW open ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I am especially excited about the Arlington ISD community committees this year because we are adding new opportunities that really align with the priorities and focus of our district.

One of the things I love about this is that it creates more ways for people to get involved (especially those who may not have had an opportunity to serve on a district committee before).

Not everyone has the same amount of time to give, and not everyone is passionate about the same things. With the variety of committees this year, there are different levels of involvement and so many different areas where people can bring their knowledge, experience and passions to the table.

Whether you’re passionate about technology, student health, libraries, facilities, education, community engagement or helping us thoughtfully oversee our bond work, there is a place for you.

Our community has so much to offer Arlington ISD, and I’m excited to see even more voices around the table this year.

If you’ve ever thought about getting more involved, this might be your opportunity!

👉 Applications are now open: https://www.aisd.net/district/about/committees/

** if you currently serve on a committee and wish to continue please fill out the form **

Arlington ISD's committees play a vital part in our district staying connected to our community and working together towards excellence.

Joining your local PTA is one of the easiest ways to help support the public schools in your area, even if you don't have a child in the school! No commitment necessary, they just need a few dollars from you. Anyone can join!
In Arlington, it's easy to join multiple PTAs at once. ⬇️
