"We were able to choose what works for our family."
As her niece's learning coach, Ty shares how empowered her family to choose an educational option that worked for them.
Last week, families from Insight School (ISOK) made their voices heard at the Oklahoma State Department of Education's public comment hearing regarding a proposal that would require in-person student attendance for alternative education programs. Here's why that won't work for ISOK students...
1.) 23% of students have a disability (vs. 18% state average)
2.) 66% of students are economically disadvantaged (vs. 56% state average)
The top three reasons students enroll in ISOK:
1.) Concerns about the mental health of the student
2.) To catch up academically
3.) Concerns about the environment of their previous school
These families deserve better than this misguided policy.

A Wednesday hearing may determine fate of alternative virtual school serving students with special needs and in unique situations.
