Follow these tips to hit the bike trail safely — and politely — during the pandemic

"Scores of novice cyclists, compounded by the need to remain socially distant, complicate and elevate the need for good biking etiquette. All riders should be predictable, alert and lawful — which means, for example, obeying the same rules as cars, such as stopping at traffic signals."

Whether you’re an experienced or novice cyclist, read our etiquette guide before you ride.

"E-bikers are going so much farther, so much more often, that it's clear that they are being used differently. They are not just an easier bike to ride, but are being used as a replacement for cars and transit."

They are not 'cheating,' but are serious transportation.

Without public transit, there will be no economic recovery

Opinion: If the federal government fails to provide relief funds, these agencies will cease to exist as we know them — and so too will New York City.

If the Senate and the White House fail to act responsibly and save transit, the long-term ramifications for our country’s business sector will be catastrophic.

Hi! Just sent a message re: e-scooters. Will you all jump in and address the drivers who are actively trying to take them off the streets and kill the program?? NextDoor (North Arlington, at least) is blowing up with short-sided complaints and actively trying to take them away from us. I'm curious how the other villages feel. Thanks! ~Dee
As a professional dog walker, I walk in and around the Village at Shirlington for an extensive period of time every day. I’ve identified four highly dangerous crosswalks in and around The Village at Shirlington in South Arlington. This area is crucial to accessing and connecting the Washington and Old Dominion Bike Trail, Four Mile RunTrail, Jennie Dean Park, Shirlington Dog Park, The Village at Shirlington and the Nauck Community. At each marked point, there are various and visible pedestrian crossing signs. Nonetheless, motorists continue to speed, dangerously encroach on pedestrians in these crosswalks, physically block crosswalks, and do not yield the right of way to the pedestrians and cyclists as Virginia Law requires.
