St. Kitts & Nevis is undergoing a hotel development boom. Besides witnessing a spurt in new hotel constructions, the Federation’s largest hotel, the St Kitts Marriott, completed a two-year, $5.5 million renovation project last year. And it does not stop there. This week, St Kitts’ cabinet approved another new resort project, the Heldens Estate Condo Resort & Residences, which will include more than 200 condos, apartments, and villas in the St Paul’s parish, as well as restaurants, bars, tennis courts, and swimming pools!
This may be a relatively small island, but it seems hard to go anywhere here without seeing a new hotel or condominium project popping up.
The Organization of American States (OAS) and St. Kitts and Nevis are currently talking about hosting the Hemispheric Model OAS in the Federation for the first time. This student simulation would allow university students to represent the member states of the OAS and engage in dialogue about pressing issues affecting the region for two days in the Caribbean country.
As part of the Embassy's mission to promote the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis as an ideal tourist destination, the Ambassador hosted a professionals gathering at her residence. Patrons were able to get a taste of the culture, cuisine, music, and art of the twin-island and were soon excited to think about a trip to the Federation!
At the 44th Regular Session of the OAS General Assembly in Asunción, Paraguay, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saint Kitts & Nevis, Patrice Nesbitt, emphasized that countries of the Americas “must do no less than to acknowledge our shortcomings, and to move with alacrity to challenge our own minds to seek more innovative, participatory, and equitable solutions to pressing issues like hunger and poverty, and yes exclusion.”
