As the weather warms up, it's important to remember the dangers of leaving children and pets unattended in a hot car, even for short periods of time. Texas Health reminds parents of the warning signs of overheating, as well as how to cool down if you notice signs of heatstroke.

Arlington Parks and Recreation's Athletics Team is hiring Youth Sports Officials and wants you to be a part of the team! Positions available for: Youth Baseball, Girls' Softball, Futsal, Basketball, and Soccer. $15-$20/game.

Positions will be assigned games at various outdoor sport facilities in Arlington. Under general supervision, officials will officiate youth sports leagues in baseball, basketball, girls softball and Futsal/soccer through rule enforcement and player safety. Must be able to officiate games and settle disputes that may occur during league games. Must be mature, responsible, and possess good communication skills; work schedule will include evenings and weekends. Must have or obtain First Aid & CPR Certification within the first 3 months of employment.

Did you know red-eared sliders and other turtles brumate throughout winter? During brumation, which is similar to hibernation, wild turtles become dormant and spend several weeks at a time at the bottom of ponds or shallow lakes, only occasionally rising to the surface for food or air.
