UT-Arlington Student Legal Services

UT-Arlington Student Legal Services Student Legal Services (SLS) provides legal advice, counsel, and limited representation for currently enrolled students at University of Texas at Arlington.

Services include document preparation, notary, advising, and research. SLS is staffed by one full-time licensed attorney and one law clerk. SLS cannot advise students against another University of Texas at Arlington faculty, staff, student, department, or the school itself. SLS does not advise or represent in the areas of tax, immigration, or bankruptcy. However, referrals can be given.

Mission: The mission of Student Legal Services at the University of Texas at Arlington is to provide legal counsel to students who are currently enrolled and have paid the current Student Service Fee. Incorporated in this process is advisement with limited circumstances which require advocacy regarding their legal rights and procedures in regard to substantive Texas law. In support of this mission Student Legal Services provides preventative education in the form of a series of legal education seminars and program support in the form of individual and customized topical presentations for students and student organizations. This educational component enables Student Legal Services to empower students to develop skills and knowledge that will serve them in the future to avert, resolve, or appropriately engage personal legal issues.

Emergency room physicians are leaving patients with hefty bills: More and more, doctors who work in emergency rooms are private contractors who are out of network or do not accept any insurance plans.
