Here is a summary of the 11/17 JCF Meeting Minutes:
ANNOUNCEMENTS
o Veterans Stand Down update (Possibly January - suggested combining it with Project Homeless Connect 1/27/17).
o Checking availability of The Historical Museum at Fort Missoula on 5/20/17 (Armed Forces Day) for the 2017 Heroes @ Home BBQ & Music Festival. (Hoping to combine it with the Su***de Prevention Run).
o Annual Thanksgiving Dinner Basket Drive for Veteran Families (Approximately 20 Veteran families needing help) - Requested: Turkeys, green beans, corn, dinner rolls, desserts, yams, stuffing, cranberry sauce.
DROP LOCATIONS: Hog Heaven (Coffee shop next to the Harley dealership) and the Axmen.

o The United Veterans Council (UVC) of Missoula and Ravalli Counties is also collecting turkeys at the American Legion Post 27, and they will be putting 30 turkey dinner baskets together Monday to be delivered Tuesday (26 recipient names so far). UVC is also still collecting socks and items for “Santa Socks!"
o The Missoula Aging Services Senior Corps Program Manager announced that she’s happy to continue Kay’s work with the Montana Supporting Soldiers Christmas Care Packages, and although the donations have been smaller without Kay’s energy, they’re appreciative of the support.
o Team Rubicon discussed the disaster response projects they've been involved with in the south (flood & fire). They will be planning an event for December and will share the details soon.
o Veterans Court Mentor announced that since Missoula Veterans Court received additional funding, they can double what they do now (Anyone interested in becoming a mentor or learning more about Missoula Veterans Court can call 258-4728 or email

o Vet Rep for U.S. Senator Daines Office discussed the Veteran History Project. It has been opened up to Gold Star Families. He also discussed the military academy nominations.
o Team RWB Missoula announced that Team Red, White & Blue is open to everyone and has about 60% Veterans / 40% non-Veteran members. They’re having a coat drive (deets later).
o Job Service Hamilton discussed the VVSC Open House 11/17 from 5-8pm.

[email protected], (202) 420-0105, America Campaign, Big Sky Code Academy & Montana Code Girls and Doug Walter, Director of Education & Technology of America Campaign and Co-Founder of Big Sky Code Academy.
o Devin discussed the history of the Big Sky Code Academy.
o The America Campaign is a national non-profit, and Devin and Doug founded the Big Sky Code Academy. They train both adults and youth to pursue academic and professional careers in technology (Accelerated 12 week full-time and 8-month part-time software development and technology training programs).
o Big Sky Code Academy, click link to apply for FT / PT classes starting January.
o Montana Code Girls, FREE – Register by 1/9/17, NO programming experience necessary (Middle school – high school age girls); Next session starts January 2017: M & Th for 2 hours after school at public libraries statewide (Classes will be open to boys and girls, “Montana Code Kids” next summer).
o They’re always looking for grant funding, but their goal is to have the programs approved for VA educational benefits, GI Bill, etc. “through partnership” by 2017.
o Their next venture will be Montana Teaching Tech (code.org, teaching K-12 educators how to bring coding into their classrooms) by 2020.
