10/23/2020

Today we would like to thank #bestofthebest LTC June Copeland for her hard work and dedication to #TeamIPPSA. LTC Copeland joined the program in September 2018 as the Senior Army National Guard IPPS-A Liaison. After two years, she is transitioning to a new assignment. We will miss her.

The way LTC Copeland joined the program was unconventional. Her supervisors and the G1 pulled her out of an assignment two years early so that she could support IPPS-A. She was the right person for the job and has since played a critical role in successfully fielding IPPS-A Release 2 to the entire Army National Guard.

When LTC Copeland first started her assignment with IPPS-A, she realized the job would take every bit of knowledge that she had, and that she would have to bring her best to the table every single day to be successful.

“This job is not for the weak of heart,” she said. “This job really does require you to be the best of the best.”

LTC Copeland has seen the team accomplish many things during her tenure. What stands out the most to her, however, are not these achievements but the people. The team’s comradery and how everyone supports each other even during low points has impressed her.

Being a part of #TeamIPPSA, she said, has expanded her in ways that she could have never fathomed. She learned a lot about herself: what she could do; what she was willing to do for the mission’s sake; and what true sacrifice meant.

“I love what we are doing, and I believe in what we are doing,” she said. “I believe what we are doing will make life better across all three Components across the Army in the future.”

Thank you LTC Copeland, and good luck on your next assignment!

During yesterday's CMF panel about #talentmanagement at #AUSA2020, Deputy Chief of Staff G-1, LTG Gary Brito, discussed how IPPS-A is a critical enabler for the Army People Strategy, and how it is helping the #USArmy transition to a 21st century #HR and talent management system.

"IPPS-A has moved from a big idea concept over the last few years to a reality and is going to enable all of our talent management systems to work well," he said.

During the panel LTG Brito highlighted IPPS-A's 25 Point Soldier Profile, a new talent management feature which will contain details about Soldiers' knowledge, skills, behaviors, experience, and readiness. This feature will provide a more holistic talent profile for each Soldier and will help our Army make better talent decisions.

LTG Brito also noted that, like any system, IPPS-A is only as good as the data that comes into it. It is crucial, he said, that both #Soldiers and commanders ensure that the HR and personnel data in our legacy systems is correct and up-to-date.

IPPS-A is will be live across the Total Force in December 2021. To learn more about the system, visit our website at https://ipps-a.army.mil/

When I ended Soldiers AGR Service on August 15th and trying to put OTOT orders in AFCOS after that date, it still shows Soldier as active. I would like to know what steps do I have to do in IPPS-A to change a Soldier from AGR to M-Day?
Does anyone have a guide for officer reappointments in IPPS-A? Specifically for those that are prior service but coming back in from civilian life so they’re a new hire.
For our Army Reserve Personnel: IPPS-A is currently experiencing challenges with the Army Organization Server (AOS) which is currently affecting the NG. The program is aware of and has identified significant resources to resolve the issue. At this time there is no impact to the Active and AR go live date. It does, however, emphasize the fact that structure within AOS remains a top priority. AOS is the authoritative data source (ADS) that houses the Army’s authorized force structure data. IPPS-A organizational data comes from AOS in derivative UICs. IPPS-A does not allow double-slotting which means any excess Soldiers, assigned above authorized strength, must have spaces to be assigned to. The excess slots are based off template positions that allow for manning above the authorized strength. The Faces 2 Spaces concept includes a plan to build 30% Standard Excess templets per each Unit in AOS. To expedite the process, automation was created to build the necessary templets. The Army Force Structure data in the AOS will be verified to ensure every Soldier within IPPS-A is assigned to the correct authorized position or template billet prior to the December 2021 release date for Compo 3. This is in compliance with the global force management data initiative (GFM-DI). As more information is passed-on by the IPPS-A STRATCOM team, updates will be sent to our team concerning this issue.
Has anyone else had trouble getting certificates? I've finished a class and I getting getting marked incomplete
If IPPS-A had something similar to the “custom report” option in SIBX where the user is able to create queries customized to just specific data it’d be great! Having an option like that would make the system much more efficient at the user level
The Health of the Community
How do you do a DPOS in IPPSA, SM is qualified but showing not qualified.
Message on behalf of COL Greg Johnson, Director FMD This morning we had a significant disruption to users due the migration last night of 2 infrastructure changes: the elimination of our portal application and the migration of an Oracle Patch that was addressing system performance issues. #1: The elimination of portal inadvertently resulted in users not being able to login in due their saved IPPS-A links were mapped to the portal application. This caused the IPPS-A team to scramble quickly to issue immediate guidance to the field to delete any linked favorites from their internet browser, clear their cache, and then login into IPPS-A. The impact to the field would have been significantly reduced had these simple steps been communicated in advance, we need to be better. The additional change that occurred is described below the tear line of this email If you are having problems with logging into IPPS-A please follow the instructions below and if they do not address your issues call the TIER I helpdesk immediately: - Clear history / cookies, close and re-open the browser - Delete old IPPS-A link from favorites / toolbar - Manually type in the link: https://hr.ippsa.csd.disa.mil - then save favorite #2: The Oracle Patch, while applied with good intentions to address system performance, had the unforeseen impact of removing standard and personalized tiles from user homepages. The patch was tested, however the results viewed in test did replicate what users experienced in production. The itemized list of issues we have identified are as follows: 1. The ACT tile does not populate the quick links to the ACT Queries such as: the gain loss report, Assignment Detail Report, Position vacancy Report a. Alternate navigation: Users can use the following navigation steps to get to the ACT Queries: Workforce Admin – Assignment Tracking – Assignment Reports 2. Personalized homepages are missing some or all tiles 3. ADHOC Tile either missing or unable to log in 4. Readiness and Manning tile missing. When users search for it and try to add a warning message appears they are not authorized to view 5. Pre-defined query tile is missing The SI is still working on #2 throughout the weekend to address and restore for our users. If you are experiencing additional issues, please submit a CRM Case, specifics for category, type, and details will be posted on the IPPS-A announcements page. We appreciate your patience and the entire program is addressing how infrastructure updates are tested and applied in the future and ensuring our test environment in synced appropriately with the production system.
