With our Celebrate Home! Benefit less than two weeks away, we found it appropriate to start the countdown by shouting out our Hospitality Host, AvalonBay Communities, for their dedication to the advancement of affordable housing in our region. Thank you for our partnership, which supports so many people in the communities that we call home.

Sponsorships are critical to funding our annual $1.5 million resident services program. This program provides vital support and connection APAH residents. Just some of the work our team accomplished in 2020 thanks, in large part to sponsorships, included: individual assistance in applying for unemployment insurance; delivering food, medicine, and other essential products to quarantined senior citizens; providing flexibility to extend eviction moratoriums and help residents find funding for rent relief; and so much more.

Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing had the honor of hosting Wally Adeyemo, Deputy Secretary of The U.S. Department of the Treasury at our Queens Court property for a conversation about rent relief and the impact it has had on low-income families. Thanks to federal funding to states, Virginia has disbursed nearly $312 million in 55,941 payments in rent and mortgage relief payments—second only to Texas thanks to the incredible work of Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development, Virginia Housingand landlords like APAH.

With the federal eviction moratorium ending on July 31st, we appreciate the effort to raise visibility and get these resources where they are needed.

APAH’s Director of Resident Services, Marquan Jackson, RS Manager, Roxana Hernandez, Board Chair, Susan Bell, and @Christian Dorsey from the Arlington County Virginia – Government Board joined in the conversation on the challenges and results of the program.

APAH suspended evictions and halted late fees for those households unable to pay rent due to COVID to protect our residents and has voluntarily extended our eviction moratorium through December 31, 2021 for all of our affordable properties. Conversations such as the one today, are crucial in ensuring that local, state, and federal policies are in place to provide safety nets to protect marginalized groups.

Thank you, @Deputy Secretary, for your commitment to rent relief, affordable housing, and equity within the communities that we live in.

Today, Deputy Secretary Wally Adeyemo traveled to Arlington, VA, and spoke with leaders and tenants from
Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing about Virginia's best practices in administering rental assistance to tenants and landlords through Treasury's Emergency Rental Assistance program.

We invite you to take a look at our 2021 Silent Auction, which this year has more than 50 opportunities to get a great deal, supporting immigrant families at the same time. Please click below and see for yourself the amazing deals we have this year for you!
Edu-Futuro has developed a research-based two-generation approach that ensures immigrant youth and families attain postsecondary goals, improve long-term financial stability, and strengthen interfamily cohesiveness. Every year more families are positively impacted by Edu-Futuro’s programs. During the last fiscal year, Edu-Futuro provided 3,385 services to 3,268 unduplicated children, youth, and adults, of which 80% are considered extremely low-income, very low-income, and low-income (based on the Community Development Block Grant Income limits.) In our 2021 virtual Gala, Building a Brighter Future, we will honor these families' resilience, especially in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. If you can't join us in Building a Brighter Future, we're going to miss you, but we hope you can make a donation or sponsor the event to support those families. Thank you very much!
