According to the Insurance Institute For Highway Safety, an average of approximately 118 individuals are killed in motor vehicle accidents on New Years Day each year, largely due to drunk driving. Despite the turn of the year being behind us, Marines are encouraged to avoid driving after consuming alcohol. The numbers speak for themselves -- driving impaired is likely to result in serious injury or death. Be safe and be smart.

We're at the time of year where decorations, wreathes, and lights are going to be hung at home, the workplace, and elsewhere. Sometimes, reaching to place these items at height presents a possible fall hazard. Whether you're arranging festive decorations, or performing your duties in an environment that puts you in hazardous situations, be careful and safe in your efforts.
