"Honoring Distinguished Women"

06/04/2020

It's been a challenging and difficult few days for the ongoing fight for racial justice and ending police brutality in this country against Black people. We see you, and we appreciate the support from across the community and those doing the work to get us there. One of those community partners, the Arlington Branch NAACP just awarded us a $250 grant for COVID-19 relief-𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐊 𝐘𝐎𝐔!!

Many people have asked us how they can help and support our work, especially in light of current events. Did you know that 80% of our clientele is African American and nearly 99% of them fall in the extremely low-income bracket? Every day, we're working to provide services and support such as emergency assistance, case management, and human service application assistance for people to feel empowered- and your support goes 100% towards those efforts.

Our village is all of you and why we ask that you join us this #GivingTuesdayNow with a contribution-every little bit helps and the investment on your dollar goes far every day. Thank you!

The governor has announced that schools will be closed for the rest of the school year. The county is now closing all parks, recreation centers, and playgrounds. While these measures may be tough to swallow, it’s what needed at this time to contain the spread of this pandemic and hopefully get back to a sense of normalcy sooner than later.

We here at BAJCDC will continue to be a resource for you- please keep following our Facebook and other social media pages for resources for both kids and adults. If you are in a position to help support our efforts (especially to ensure our seniors receive groceries and other necessities) please consider making a donation on website at http://www.bajcdc.org/donate

Thank you!

While these are challenging times for all of us, it is even more so for the elderly and those who live alone without a support system. These folks are especially vulnerable. Our executive director, Cicely Whitfield, will be doing grocery shopping today for our clients who fall in these categories. Please consider making an online donation to support this effort. You can go to https://bajcdc.org/donations/ and do so through PayPal. Thank you!
