These Airmen from the Pavements and Construction Equipment shop are tasked with operating heavy construction equipment, building runways and airfields in remote locations across the globe, and upholding essential facilities on our installations.

Equipped for Everything 💪
The Mission Support Group (MSG) Phase II training exercise at Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona provided 355 CES Airmen with a crucial opportunity to practice operations in contested environments. During the exercise, Airmen extinguished a simulated HH-60 aircraft fire, performed chemical contamination tests, and filled in a crater to demonstrate their ability to effectively recover the base in the event of an attack.

The Academy Minute: "𝙋𝙍𝙀𝙋𝙋𝙄𝙉𝙂" 𝙁𝙊𝙍 𝙂𝙍𝙀𝘼𝙏𝙉𝙀𝙎𝙎
The US Air Force Academy Preparatory School (Official) is a 10-month program that offers a select group of enlisted personnel and civilians a potential pathway to join the cadets "up the hill" at the Academy. The school provides the academic, leadership, and physical training to prepare preppies for success as future officers.
➡️ Prospective preppies must be at least 17 years old and not have passed their 22 birthday by July 1 of the year they enter the Preparatory School.
➡️ Civilian students and Air Force enlisted members who apply for but do not receive an appointment to the Academy will automatically be considered for a Preparatory School appointment.

This week's Firstie Friday is C1C Kiana Rae “Kiki” Baruela, hailing from Hilo, Hawai’i. 🏝️
Kiki is majoring in Business Management and is a former enlisted Airman and a Air Force Academy Preparatory School (Official) graduate!
Kiki’s prior-enlisted job was a Health Services Management specialist. Fun fact? Her future job in the States Air Force will be as an officer in the Medical Service Corps, so she will re-enter the field with a wealth of knowledge and experience! 🏩
While Kiki was enlisted, she always aspired to commission. Witnessing the exceptional leadership of graduates while working alongside many doctors/officers solidified her desire to attend the Academy. 🩺
A couple of her favorite memories while here were Ring Dance and 100s weekend! 💍💯
Her advice to cadets: “Everything will work out in the end. In the words of the one and only Bob Marley, everything in life got its purpose. Find its reason in every season.”

Arbor Day 🌳
For the past 26 years, Moody AFB, Georgia has hosted an annual Arbor Day event celebrating the planting and preservation of trees to maintain its status as a Tree City USA community. This year, 23 CES Base Forester, John Crain, planted trees with two different classes from the base Child Development Center to highlight the importance and benefits of trees for the environment.

Triple Threat 💣
Last week, Explosive Ordnance Disposal personnel from the United States Air Force, Army, and Marines participated in . EOD technicians showed off their skills in a series of exercises, including digging for UXOs and partaking in Rapid Explosive Hazard Mitigation (REHM), testing their ability to render safe and dispose of explosive material. also provided these three services a unique opportunity to interface outside of their day-to-day roles.
Thank you to the Army and Marines for joining our Airmen at and for demonstrating the important capabilities of EOD service members!

Expeditionary Day 🗺️
The 1 SOCES held their annual expeditionary day at Hurlburt Field, Florida to successfully prepare for real-world operations in a controlled training environment. Throughout the day, Airmen were tasked to work as a team while completing night vision trainings, land navigation exercises, and tent set-ups.
