A 10-year-old girl has sent more than 1,500 art kits to kids in foster care and homeless shelters during the coronavirus pandemic

today's inspiration: 10-year old Chelsea Phaire. She has collected art supplies, put together individual art kits and sent more than 1500 of them to kids in homeless shelters or foster care.

Chelsea has always loved making art. When she was 8, she lost someone very close to her heart. That's when her hobby became her therapy. Realizing how much art has helped her, Chelsea wanted to give that outlet to other kids who may be hurting. With schools being closed, kids in shelters and foster homes don't have access to art supplies they usually find at school.

Knowing that other children have also gone through trauma inspired Chelsea to help make art more accessible to help others cope with their feelings.

Young people pretty much just do it. They don't see the obstacles or red tape, they just see what needs to be done and they make it happen.

LUNCH DOODLES with Mo Willems! Episode One: Welcome to Mo’s Studio!

this is brilliant! so generous and inspiring!
from IA&A at Hillyer:
Kids’ author Mo Willems is here to make Mondays a little better for a while: Starting today, he’ll release a new “Lunch Doodle” video each Monday at 1 PM.

Willems is encouraging students to send him questions at [email protected], and he’ll try to answer some of the questions in his videos. “I know a lot of you guys are not in school. You’re at home right now, because of all the things that are going on. Well guess what? I’m at home, too,” he said in a video press release. “We’re gonna hang out together. Matter of fact, I’m really looking forward to it.”
