Happy New Year! Wishing everyone a happy & healthy 2023.
Happy New Year from Savannah, Georgia! Lots of nervous Bulldog fans in this establishment 😂
Thanks to Arlington Police for sharing this important reminder ahead of New Year’s Eve. Same is true for Grand Prairie and Mansfield— don’t shoot off fireworks in the city and never, ever engage in “celebratory gunfire.” What goes up must come down — and that “celebratory” bullet can kill someone.
Celebrate safely!
Merry Christmas! I hope you have a great day spent with family and loved ones.

The City of Arlington has opened The Beacon Recreation Center as a temporary warming center in response to a south Arlington neighborhood being without adequate natural gas pressure to heat their homes and run necessary appliances during the freezing temperatures.
Thanks, Councilman Junior Ezeonu!

Texas has a strong, growing economy thanks to Texas workers. The men and women who power our economy deserve to be treated fairly, which is why I have filed the following pro-worker bills:
•HB 1054, the Texas Payroll Fraud Prevention Act, cracks down on worker misclassification and payroll fraud in the construction industry.
•HB 1055, the Texas Worker Fairness Act, ensures workers are not denied unemployment benefits they have rightfully earned.
🌬 The much talked about cold front arrives tomorrow! Subfreezing temperatures are likely to begin in the afternoon and continue into the Christmas weekend. Visit the National Weather Service for more details and advice on how to prepare your home: https://www.weather.gov/fwd/
Did you know that 94% of Texans who enrolled in the Health Insurance Marketplace this year received subsidies on premiums? Thanks to President Biden, more people are eligible for subsidies. Visit Healthcare.gov to sign up for a plan before the Jan. 15 deadline.
Thank you, Tarrant County Constable Office Pct. 7 Sandra Lee for saving Christmas for the kids! 😂
Precinct 7 Constables Office is determined to make sure that all of our children's toys from Santa are safe this holiday season. Have a wonderful and safe weekend and happy holidays to all.

Thanks to everyone who came out to my 10th Annual District 101 Holiday Party & Toy Drive! The event was a huge success, and thanks to all of your generosity, this year we were able to donate more toys than ever before to the children served by Mission Arlington.
A special thank you to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Xi Theta Omega Chapter in Arlington for their incredibly generous donation of hundreds of toys, and the Golden Gaits Stable whose students raised money to purchase toys.
Join us NOW at my 10th annual holiday party & toy drive at the Arlington East Library and Recreation Center. We’ll be here until 6pm!
When Texans entrust the care of loved ones to a group home, they should have confidence that they will be safe.
Today, I filed a package of bills to strengthen safety measures in group homes, including Joshua's Act, prohibiting fi****ms in these facilities.
At the NAACP Arlington TX annual meeting. Catching up with great friends and the future Commissioner.
Attended Commissioners Court this morning to celebrate the accomplishments of Commissioner Devan Allen, PCT. 2. These last 4 years have been tumultuous times - COVID 19, the grid collapse, and through these times Precinct 2 has had the right leader. We are so proud of you, your accomplishments, all you have done for Precinct 2 and we’re looking forward to what is next!
Don’t forget—my 10th annual holiday party & toy drive is tomorrow from 4-6pm at the Arlington East Library and Recreation Center.
I hope you will be able to join us to celebrate the holidays and support the children served by Mission Arlington.

Happy holidays from the White House!
Lisa and I were honored to attend a holiday reception hosted by President & Dr. Biden this afternoon.
The White House is a beautiful place any day of the year, but it’s truly magical in the holiday season.
It was an honor to be there representing Texas and House District 101 and to thank President Biden personally for his superb leadership for our nation.
Halls, decked! ✅
Enjoyed spending the evening visiting with University Finance Association students & discussing the intersection of business & politics. Always great to be back at the University of Texas!

Thanks to President Biden and Democrats in Congress, plan subsidies for Marketplace Health Insurance have been expanded. Four out of five customers on Healthcare.gov will be able to find a plan for less than $10 per month after subsidies. Sign up before open enrollment ends on Jan. 15!
I had a great afternoon meeting with students, faculty and Texas Equal Access Fund leaders for the TCU TEA Fund Advocacy Day regarding crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs).
The state spends nearly $100 million on CPCs each year with very little regulation or accountability. I’ve consistently opposed state funding for these centers as they continually spread medical misinformation and fail to provide adequate healthcare to those who use them.
I appreciate this group for advocating for this important issue.
The system failed Joshua Moore & I am committed to ensuring this tragedy is never repeated.
This session I will file a package of bills to protect residents in group homes, including banning fi****ms in these facilities.

My deepest condolences to Grand Prairie Police and to the family of Officer Tsai.
The heartbreaking loss of this young public servant is a sobering reminder that law enforcement officers risk their lives each and every day in service to our communities.
The Grand Prairie Police Department is mourning the loss of one of our officers who died in the line of duty. It is with heavy hearts that we report Officer Brandon Paul Tsai passed away after being involved in a traffic collision.
At around 10:45 p.m. on Monday, November 14, 2022, Officer Tsai was near the intersection of SW 3rd and Pioneer Parkway when he located a vehicle displaying a fictitious paper license plate. Officer Tsai attempted to stop the vehicle which immediately fled. During the pursuit, Officer Tsai lost control of his squad car causing it to strike a light pole.
Officer Tsai was transported by Grand Prairie Fire Department Medics to Methodist Dallas Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. Officer Brandon Tsai was 32-years-old and had been with the Grand Prairie Police Department since January 2022. Prior to his hiring at GPPD, he served five years with the Los Angeles Police Department in California.
He was a loving friend, a trusted colleague and an outstanding officer whose passion was providing service to the public.
Team Turner is here to help all HD 101 constituents with state agencies.

WATCH: I was honored to stand with my Texas House Democratic Caucus colleagues at the #TXDemConvention last night to accept the LBJ Lifetime Service Award — presented by Luci Baines Johnson — for our long fight against Texas Republicans’ anti-voter laws last year. We are grateful to the Texas Democratic Party for their recognition & support. #txlege
Thank you Hallie Jackson for having me on MSNBC yesterday to discuss the tragedy in Uvalde. For years the Texas House Democratic Caucus has called for legislation to prevent gun violence. It is time for the #txlege to act to protect our children & prevent these senseless tragedies.
I joined Julie Fine and Gromer Jeffers on Lone Star Politics to discuss the U.S. Supreme Court's opinion on SB 8, which bans most abortions in Texas after a fetal heartbeat is detected, as well as the discriminatory redistricting maps passed by Republicans in the Texas Legislature.

The Texas House was very busy today trying to solve problems that do not exist. That's not really different from most days here. The difference today is that this particular bill -- HB 25 -- is about picking on vulnerable Texas kids. It's shameful. I delivered the following speech in opposition to this harmful bill.
This morning on the House floor, I spoke about the events that took place yesterday morning at Mansfield Timberview High School in Arlington, as well as commended the response by both the school district and law enforcement. Watch below ⬇️
Cora befriending a frog in our back yard. She always likes to play with the frogs but never hurts them.
For 38 days, Texas House Democrats denied quorum to delay the passage of an extreme Republican measure that would limit Texans’ freedom to vote. During that time, we met with leaders on Capitol Hill to urge passage of federal voting protections. We were successful in that effort, moving the needle and pushing Congress to take action. Passage of these federal measures -- the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act -- can’t come soon enough, because today, Texas House Republicans passed the final version of Texas' anti-voter bill. This is my speech in opposition to this harmful measure.
Earlier this evening, I joined Anderson Cooper 360 live to talk about the Speaker's civil arrest warrants and next steps in our fight to protect the freedom to vote.
"We came to Washington because Congress and the President are the only people who can help stop this attack on our democracy." Watch my appearance on the MSNBC's special event, a Town Hall with Texas Democrats co-hosted by Lawrence O'Donnell and Jonathan Capehart ⬇️
Threats and intimidation won’t stop us. They arrested the chair of the Congressional Black Caucus for peacefully protesting on Thursday, my colleague, Chair Senfronia Thompson responded, "We are Americans and we are proud Americans and we deserve the same rights and respects and the same considerations that everybody has and I’m going to fight until we get it." Watch Representative Senfronia Thompson's full speech ⬇️
It was great to join Joy Reid last night on MSNBC along with U.S. Senator Alex Padilla to talk about the need for congressional action on voting rights legislation. ICYMI ⬇️
Our plane just landed in DC and while on the tarmac, I connected with Anderson Cooper 360 to talk about why we're doing what we're doing -- to protect Texans' freedom to vote.
"Congressional action is really the antidote for this virus of vote suppression that Republicans are spreading around the country and here in Texas." 🚨 Watch my full interview from tonight's MSNBC's American Voices talking about the harmful anti-voter bills being considered today/tonight in Texas House and Senate committees. ⬇
Incredible turnout at today's For the People rally at our Texas Capitol. I honored the work of all 67 Texas House Democratic Caucus members who worked hard to defeat SB 7. Thanks to all came who came out -- your commitment to defend our democracy is inspiring! Cc: Beto O'Rourke Powered By People
Thank you, Vice President Kamala Harris for your leadership and for meeting with members of the Texas House Democratic Caucus, and for your and President Joe Biden's commitment to protecting the voting rights of all Americans. #txlege #JohnLewisVotingRightsAct #ForThePeopleAct
