Thank you to everyone who joined us, both in person and virtually, for the #NASID2021 Conference, as we create a national action plan to eliminate impaired driving! Learn more about NASID at www.NASID.org

Key takeaways include:
🟢Data shows that 64% of fatally or seriously injured roadway users during the pandemic showed the presence of an active drug in their blood.
🟢A multi substance problem takes a multi-faceted approach with:
🔸Education
🔸LE training in detection & phlebotomy
🔸Judicial System
🔸Toxicology
🔸Data
🟢Monitoring courts fill a massive gap in the criminal justice system as it is a highly effective way to stop DUI, save lives, and save taxpayer dollars.
🟢DWI courts are a back-end solution for preventing future criminal conduct and help reduce the risk of impaired driving through supervision, accountability, and tools like ignition interlocks.
🟢Effective educational campaigns can help change the behavior of first and repeat offenders.

We can't wait to share more with you! #NASID2021

Multiple substance impaired driving has taken far too many lives. In 2020 alone, trauma centers around the country reported that one in four fatally injured drivers had tested positive for having drugs and alcohol in their system.

This critical problem is why we have formed National Alliance to Stop Impaired Driving (NASID). NASID was formed to provide a strong, collaborative national focus toward the growing problem of multiple substance impaired driving. #NASID2021 Governors Highway Safety Association AAA Mid-Atlantic

Communities Talk event in Henry County, VA #CommunitiesTalk
Congratulations on your 30 years of very good work!
Hi.
Thank you for providing information about the importance of drinking responsible and education to inform our community,
On my second case (mixture of reds this time); love this wine and as a diabetic it is the right choice for me.
Some people can’t help drinking too much alcohol, root cause discovered! What do you think of this study? Discuss in the comments! https://www.facebook.com/Thriveworks/videos/1017682338427387/
IMPAIRMENT U. S. A. Becoming an Impaired Being (I.B.) is a matter of making STUPID CHOICES from one or more questionable options: give your money to a street dealer in exchange for a “hit”; to the dealer behind the bar to pay for your margarita; to the retail dealers where you buy booze and to***co; and when you text while walking or driving a vehicle. All of which are horrific not normal human conditions whereby too many of us are “high”, or drunk and/or texting while driving a vehicle and too many other activities. Add to one or more of these options a weapon, a mental disorder or certain prescribed medications and it is easy to understand why we are where we are today. (Don’t ask - - read or watch the real and fake news) An Impaired Being (I.B.) driving a vehicle is an act of stupidity which when apprehended, in most states, is all too easy to “overcome” by paying a fine. Unfortunately fines, jail time and temporary driving privilege suspensions DO NOT prevent enough of the I.B. from drinking and driving again and again, which continue to keep our roads dangerous. Driving drunk, otherwise impaired and/or texting too often result in death. At the present time after a convicted I.B. pays a fine, serves time and drives away, perhaps it should become public information so everyone knows about ALL THOSE guilty of an act almost as stupid as abusing children and pets or FORGETTING WHERE ONE’S GUN IS UNTIL ONE’S LITTLE BOY FINDS IT AND SPRAYS HIS BRAINS ALL OVER THE KITCHEN WITH IT. How? Begin with the local evening TV news deleting one commercial, listing instead the names and addresses furnished by the state of all the I.B.’s convicted of DUI and DWI in the Metro area. However, so long as TV Commercials plus aisle after aisle of alcoholic temptations promoted and sold in grocery stores, except in too few states which sell booze ONLY in State Stores, and free roaming drug dealers continue to feed the I.B.’s and wannabe craving, the battle is being lost by the most powerful nation in history. Possibly the answer is a bumper sticker proclaiming I DRIVE IMPAIRED. Thank You - - -Dave Henrie @dfhenrie
