It travels through the right atrium and ventricle, which pumps it into the lungs to receive oxygen via the pulmonary artery. Oxygenated blood then travels to the left atrium and ventricle of the heart, which pumps it out to the rest of the body through the aorta to deliver oxygen and other nutrients.
