FCFA Engine 6693 and Battalion 6611 assisted with a residential fire in the county area of rural Arroyo Grande early morning on 8/6/26. Having a predetermined response plan with the surrounding agencies ensure the safety of all residents by sending the closest available equipment to Emergencies. FCFA is proud to partner and work with San Luis County Fire.

One Arroyo Grande community is surrounded by trees and other vegetation, which are a major risk if a wildfire came through the area. That’s why neighbors decided to form the first Firewise Community within city limits.

FCFA REMINDS THE PUBLIC OF FIREWORKS SAFETY
As Independence Day approaches, the Five Cities Fire Authority (FCFA) reminds residents to be aware of the risks associated with fireworks. While legal “Safe and Sane” fireworks are permitted in certain FCFA jurisdictions, illegal fireworks continue to pose significant dangers to both personal safety and increase community fire risk.
Law enforcement agencies across the Five Cities area will be deploying additional patrols to identify and cite individuals using illegal fireworks.
KNOW THE RISKS
• Fireworks misuse can cause severe burns, amputations, blindness, and even death.
• Fires frequently occur when children use fireworks without adult supervision.
• Parents may be held responsible for any injuries or property damage resulting from fireworks.
KEEP IT LEGAL
• All legal fireworks in California are classified as “Safe and Sane” and must display the State Fire Marshal’s seal. (see photo below)
• In the cities of Grover Beach and Arroyo Grande, legal “Safe and Sane” fireworks shall only be discharged on July 4th between 10:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.
• Any firework that explodes or becomes airborne is illegal and dangerous.

Only Safe and Sane fireworks are allowed in the cities of Grover Beach and Arroyo Grande.

Only permitted professional displays are allowed elsewhere.

All fireworks are prohibited in unincorporated areas of San Luis Obispo County, including Oceano.



FCFA, in coordination with law enforcement partners, will continue to actively enforce the city’s fireworks ordinances throughout the holiday season.

The Sheriff's Office has issued a press release about how to report illegal fireworks.

As the Fourth of July holiday approaches, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office is partnering with San Luis Obispo County Crime Stoppers to help prevent the possession, sale, and use of illegal fireworks throughout San Luis Obispo County.
Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $500 for information that leads to the identification and arrest of individuals possessing illegal fireworks with the intent to sell them.
Illegal fireworks pose a serious threat to public safety and can lead to fires, injuries, property damage, and significant impacts on pets, livestock, veterans, and others who may be sensitive to loud explosions.
Anyone with information regarding the possession or sale of illegal fireworks is encouraged to contact the Fireworks Reporting Hotline at 805-781-1933. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through San Luis Obispo County Crime Stoppers by calling (805) 549-7867, through the free P3 Tips mobile app, or online at the Crime Stoppers website. The Sheriff's Office reminds residents that fireworks, other than permitted professional displays, are prohibited in all unincorporated areas of San Luis Obispo County. The Sheriff's Office will continue to actively enforce the County's fireworks ordinance throughout the holiday season.

Today Five Cities Fire Authority is conducting a fuel management project burn in the town of Halcyon along the Pike. Do not be alarmed if you see smoke in the area we do have fuel brakes are in place and they are being monitored.
