LCPS is pleased to offer FREE flu shots to LCPS employees and retirees in 2017.
LCPS sponsored flu shot clinics will begin on Monday, September 18.

• All shots are administered by Inova-employed nurses
• The flu shot is inactive
• Family members may get a flu shot for a $30 charge
• Flu shots are available anyone over the age of 4, including pregnant women
The influenza vaccines administered at the LCPS flu shot clinics this year are made to protect against the following viruses:
• an A/Michigan/45/2015 (H1N1)pdm09-like virus
• an A/Hong Kong/4801/2014 (H3N2)-like virus
• a B/Brisbane/60/2008-like (B/Victoria lineage) virus
• a B/Phuket/3073/2013-like (B/Yamagata lineage) virus

You can now find the 2017 Wellness Works! Handbook
on the Employee Health, Wellness and Benefits website.
The handbook includes summaries
of the many wellness programs offered in 2017,
corresponding instructions and forms and a calendar of events.
You will also find our annual Wellness message, book recommendation
and instructions for getting your free copy of the recommended book.
In 2017 you will not find the Wellness Passport in the handbook.
This year we have made it even easier to earn a cash reward.
Simply complete your online medical health assessment,
and enter new *biometric numbers for 2017, to earn a $50 reward.
No need to complete or submit other paperwork.
If you are insured through Cigna, you will take your health assessment at www.mycigna.com.
If you are not insured through Cigna, you can take your health assessment
through a Cigna partner at www.myCareAllies.com.
*You must include your Biometric numbers (blood pressure, cholesterol, waist circumference, height, weight)
to be eligible for the reward. If you entered numbers last year,
you will need to replace them with new numbers for 2017.
You can get these numbers form your doctor following an annual physical
or attend one of the LCPS free biometric screening events.

The LCPS Wellness Works! 5k Event & Reimbursement
Whether you're a new runner or an experienced runner, now is the time to get or stay active! A Wellness Works! goal this year was to host a 5k at Stone Bridge High on May 17th – but we’ve since determined that we must put this goal on hold until 2015.
So, in place of hosting a 5k in 2014, we are encouraging you to run a 5k this year! If you successfully complete a 5k (and provide proof) between April 1, 2014 - August 31, 2014, the LCPS Wellness Works! Program will reimburse the cost of the 5k registration fee, up to $30.00 (one time only).

Free Meditation Classes in March
To meditate is “to engage in contemplation or reflection.” In other words, in meditation we look inward, into our deeper consciousness. With regular practice, meditation can be used to calm the mind, relax the body, and ease health issues, such as high blood pressure, leading us into a sense of well-being and peace. No meditation experience is needed to attend a meditation class.

If you need extra support or cushioning when sitting for long periods, you may want to bring pillows (like couch throw pillows or travel pillows). Please wear casual, comfortable clothing; layering is good to adjust to room temperature and changes in body temperature from the meditation. You may bring ONLY water in a closed container, no coffee, tea, soda, etc.
