MMC Fall Season is a GO! Please stand by for Registrar & Coach Kate’s updates

09/10/2021

Update from Coach Kate:
Good Afternoon All,

If you are receiving this email, you have been included on the roster for the upcoming MMC season. If you were on a waiting list and have not yet completed an application, please contact Mary Elliott at: [email protected].

Due to our condensed schedule we will be combining Select and Club levels. This will also allow us to accommodate the maximum number of athletes. We have decided to cancel tryouts next week and the select team level. Our intention is to still group boats at the club level by athletes skill, competitiveness and commitment to the season. Practice for all will still start on the 20th of September pending water levels on the river.

Payments
Once the season has begun, each family will receive an invoice for the amount owed from registration. We will not be asking or accepting payment until we are officially on the water.
Please reach out to registration for any questions, [email protected]

Attention Rowers: Site Maintenance Day

• Friday, July 3, 2020

• 7:00am-10:00am

Open Row starts on Monday, July 6. This is a great opportunity for us to do some long overdue maintenance! We will be rigging boats, getting launches in the water, w**d whacking, and general clean up. Let’s show some BRC love!

If you can make it, please remember to WEAR A MASK! Bring yard gloves, minimize personal items but do bring water, and social distance as much as possible.

This will be a holiday weekend so the park may be crowded, so we are getting an early start.

06/26/2020

OPEN ROW STARTS JULY 6, MARK YOUR CALENDAR!

There will be a weekly sign up for spots, registration will be required to make you eligible for slot.

Registration will open July 1 and end July 4. Spaces will be limited based on safety requirements for COVID-19.

Please be on the lookout for further information via team-remind & Teamsnap

Hello BR Crew family, we’ve got a tank (size adult small) we’re giving away. Figured I’d probably have an easier time finding a home for it here than at Salvation Army. Let me know if you’d like it.
W-L Crew installed their dock last weekend. Our friend many if you have W-L Coach Bob Shepherd created a link to a YouTube playlist of 7 videos that track last Saturday's movement of the PBC docks back home to the club. For those that haven't seen this annual operation, it's pretty special. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLSncLpJDGfUx7dg8piCBQrHU9YLyh48Hs Here's the process: Early on the 2nd Saturday each February, 10 members of a lead team from the W-L Crew team and coaching staff meet at PBC to start the process. This year, the 10th member of the lead team was the PBC Dock Captain who is in charge of the docks at the club. This lead team fills 2 boats with transoms, engines, brooms, gas cans, tools and team members and heads down to the Pentagon Lagoon. Once at the lagoon, the team installs the transoms on the end of the dock, installs engines on the transoms, and drives the docks like a barge back upriver to the Potomac Boat Club. While driving up on this trip, you can see W-L team members and the PBC Dock Captain cleaning the goose droppings off of the docks, the coach repairs the propeller on a launch, and three team members operating the 3 engines to drive the dock. Once back at PBC, the rest of the team meets this lead team and this larger team positions the docks and remounts the 12 ramps that you can see stacked on the docks in this video. This is done in coordination with the PBC members, who perform the opposite process (PBC to the lagoon) the first week in December each year.
Can't wait for Spring season❣
It's that time of year AGAIN! LET'S TALK SPRING CREW! Join us on Tuesday, October 8th at BRHS Library. Meeting starts at 7pm! Tell your friends! Hope to see you there!
Awesome homecoming parade!
Important news for local rowing. National Park Service Issues “Finding of No Significant Impact”: Concluding Federal Assessment of Arlington Boathouse Siting Options. The Arlington Boat House will serve local crew teams not only Arlington. This is a project decades in the making. See our Arlington Boathouse Foundation press release that includes a link to the FONSI.
