TODAY is the last day to submit your work to our special edition anthology, Southern writers on poverty. It's incredibly important that writers from across the South submit to this open call.

One of our most important goals for this anthology is that it reflects the true lived experience of poverty in the South, especially from writers but also from folks who may be writing and publishing their first piece with us. If you have something to share, now is the time to submit.

This special edition anthology, slated for publication in Fall 2027 is edited by Dr. Monic Ductan. Monic Ductan teaches American literature, African American literature, and creative writing workshops in both fiction and nonfiction. Dr. Ductan's writing has appeared in Oxford American, Shenandoah, South Carolina Review, Appalachian Review, and several other journals. She’s the author of Daughters of Muscadine, a book about working-class Black women in a small, Georgia town.
