The new IPCC synthesis report shows that we need rapid, deep, and immediate greenhouse gas reductions to avoid the most severe and irreversible impacts of climate change. We've known for decades that fossil fuels are destroying us, yet we recklessly continue to burn them at massive scales. We can't wait any longer for change. That's why we're calling on the University of Georgia to commit to achieving 100% clean and renewable energy by 2035. Sign our petition to show your support: https://forms.gle/abpmGLZCxsauSMJ29
IPCC's Synthesis Report is out now!
On Monday, 20 March 2023, the IPCC released the Summary for Policymakers of the Synthesis Report for the Sixth Assessment Report in Interlaken, Switzerland.
Why is this report important?
The Synthesis Report is the culmination of the work of hundreds of scientists who have assessed more than 100,000 pieces of scientific literature across six reports published between 2018 and 2023. The Synthesis Report integrates these findings to provide a complete picture of and available solutions.
"There are multiple, feasible and effective options to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to human-caused climate change, and they are available now," said IPCC scientists in the report's release.
"Mainstreaming effective and equitable climate action will not only reduce losses and damages for nature and people, it will also provide wider benefits," - IPCC Chair Hoesung Lee.
