Last week, we got to celebrate 3 amazing teachers as they head into the next chapter of their lives and enter sweet retirement.

Mrs. Jewel, Mrs. Montalvo, and Mrs. Ryan — your dedication to the WMS community will truly be missed. Thank you for all the hard work, love, and support you have poured into our students and fellow teachers over the years.

We will miss you, but we are so glad we got to send you off in style. Rock on! 🤘🐺

🎮💻 Our 8th grade students became real-world game developers in Mrs. Strougo's class as they coded and tested their own video games using handheld game controllers! Students programmed enemies to appear and chase players, created scoring systems, and tracked player lives to build interactive gameplay experiences. Watching their games come to life through coding, creativity, and problem-solving was an exciting glimpse into the world of game design and computer science! 🚀🕹️

AI in action! 🤖✨ Our 6th grade students became real-world AI developers in Mrs. Strougo's class by training their own AI models using motion data they recorded themselves with Micro:bits! Students tested and improved their models to see if the AI could accurately recognize different movements, then brought their code to life through a virtual pet project.
Using “happy” and “sad” motions, students programmed their virtual pets to respond with custom images and melodies they designed themselves. A “happy” motion triggered cheerful images and melodies, while a “sad” motion created a completely different response — all designed and coded by the students themselves. From collecting data to training AI and coding creative interactions, students experienced firsthand how technology, creativity, and problem-solving come together in the world of computer science. The future of AI innovation is already here!

Lights, code, action! ⚡🤖 Our WMS students became real-world programmers and engineers today in Mrs. Strougo's class as they wired circuit boards and coded their own commands to make lights turn on and off! Watching their code come to life right before their eyes was an unforgettable hands-on learning experience. From debugging to problem-solving, students got a true glimpse into the exciting world of robotics and technology innovation. The future of engineering is bright! 💡🚀

🌟 Kal-El Depina exudes patience and kindness every day. He is respectful to both teachers and classmates, always maintaining a calm demeanor. Kal-El has truly been a pleasure to teach!

🌟 Kenia Delgadillo consistently demonstrates remarkable patience and perseverance each day. As an English learner, she approaches every challenge with a calm and positive attitude, never becoming frustrated when she needs to ask additional questions or seek clarification. Even in situations where she may not fully understand everything around her, she continues to try her best and remain engaged in learning. Her kindness toward classmates and respectful attitude make her a positive influence in the classroom. She shows patience, determination, and compassion every day.

🌟 Caitlyn Hardy is humble, patient, and incredibly hardworking. Despite being one of the top students, she never seeks attention or boasts about her success. She is always respectful and willing to wait her turn — a true rockstar!

🍦🎓 8th Grade Ice Cream Social 🎓🍦

How precious these memories are! Today we celebrated our amazing 8th graders during their Ice Cream Social on the last day of school. 💙💛

We are so proud of each and every one of you and we are truly going to miss you next year. You are wonderful, intelligent, and bring so much joy into our lives every single day. Even on the hard days, we choose you guys — always. ❤️

Thank you for the laughter, memories, and moments that made this year so special. We cannot wait to see all the amazing things you accomplish in high school!

We’re excited to celebrate one of our amazing students, Imani Cherry, who will be representing our school and Cherokee County Special Olympics at the State Special Olympics Summer Games at Emory University on Friday, May 22nd and Saturday, May 23rd! 🎉🏅

Imani will be competing in Track & Field, and we are so proud of her hard work, dedication, and determination. Please join us in cheering her on as she competes with athletes from across the state!
