With only 2 weeks until Election Day, I’m asking for your vote. As your Meriwether County Tax Commissioner, I’m driven by three core commitments to our county and community: Exceptional Fiscal Management, Innovation Focus, and Superior Ethical Standards driven by service.
I joined the Tax Commissioner’s Office in August of 2018. I have served in various areas over the years, such as Tag & Tax Clerk, and quickly moving up to Accounts Manager. In April of 2022 I was appointed as interim Tax Commissioner and currently serving in that capacity.
I have over 206 hours of training through Georgia Department of Revenue, as well as the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia, and I am currently enrolled in a Governmental Accounting course at UGA. I am a member of Georgia Association of Tax Officials (GATO), Constitutional Officers Association of Georgia (COAG), Rotary Club of Meriwether, and I’m on the Keep Meriwether Beautiful Committee.
I’ve been married for 35 years and we have two amazing adult sons. We brought our family to Meriwether County almost 8 years ago, and we love it and are very invested in this community.
My staff and I have worked diligently over the past 2 1/2 years to bring the Tax Commissioner’s Office to a fiscally balanced position. My collections are at 97.9% and our disbursements of funds to the governing authorities have been made on time, twice a month as dictated by law.
It has been my pleasure serving the citizens of Meriwether County as your Tax Commissioner, and with your vote on November 5, 2024, will continue to do so.
Thank you,
DeAnn Cruse
Tax Commissioner
