The Woodstock Lions Club partnered with the Cure Foundation on May 5, 2026, to serve lunch to 47 families with children who are cancer patients at Arthur M. Blank Children’s Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. This was a great service event, and it was an honor to work with Nicolaus Griffith, a Director with the Cure Foundation, to serve so many families affected by childhood cancer.

The Woodstock Lions Clubs' held their Club meeting on Monday, April 27th, at The Tavern at Towne Lake.

Our guest at last night's meeting was Wes Gifford, Past District Governor of Lions District 18L. Wes attended the meeting for two purposes.

First, Governor Gifford inducted Woodstock Lions Club's newest member, Tracey Meckley. The Club first met Tracey at our November 2025 Pickleball Jamboree where Tracey played in our Jamboree. Tracey asked to learn more about our Club and what we do in the Woodstock community. Tracey said she was retiring at the end of 2025 and was looking for a way to "give back" in our community. We are proud Tracey chose the Woodstock Lions Club.

Second, Governor Gifford presented a check from the Atlanta Lions Club Foundation to the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation for $1,000. Woodstock Lions Club member Nanon Morrison, also Chief Development Officer at the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation, accepted the check on behalf of the Lighthouse. The money is earmarked for the Lighthouse's White Cane Program.

Did you know there are 1.5 million uninsured Georgians and 52 counties in the state with little to no vision care? Imagine needing cataract surgery or any other sight-saving surgery and not being able to afford to pay for it, therefore, not being able to drive, work or read? The White Cane Program through the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation provides sight-saving surgeries for Georgians who can’t afford the services.

The Woodstock Lions Club completed cleanup on Saturday, April 25th, with the City of Woodstock's Adopt-A-Road on Trickum Road from Hwy 92 down to Ragsdale Rd.​

We had seven Lions' volunteers and three River Ridge HS AFJROTC Cadets. The Cadets are polite and hard-working young people.

We appreciate the time & effort from everyone.

WOODSTOCK LIONS CLUB FOUNDATION HOST A CITY OF WOODSTOCK EMPLOYEE APPRECIATION BREAKFAST DURING GEORGIA CITIES WEEK

Woodstock, GA -- The Woodstock Lions Club hosted a breakfast for City of Woodstock Employees on Tuesday, 4/21. The appreciation breakfast was in celebration of Georgia Cities Week.

Coty Thigpen, Woodstock Deputy City Manager, worked with Lion Paul D. Smith to coordinate the event. Smith said “this morning we served over 120 City of Woodstock employees’ breakfast to thank City of Woodstock employees for their work in making Woodstock one of the best cities in Metro Atlanta to live in. In addition, we took breakfast to two of the City of Woodstock Fire Stations.”

City of Woodstock Mayor Michael Caldwell was in attendance. The mayor thanked the city employees for their continued hard work and the Woodstock Lions Club for hosting the appreciation breakfast.

The breakfast was sponsored by the Woodstock Lions Club Foundation with generous donations from Starbucks, Burger King, McDonalds, Bojangles, and Truitt’s Chick-Fil-A. Smith stated that the donations from these businesses was key to a successful and fulfilling appreciation breakfast.

The Woodstock Lions Club has Twenty-Four members and meets on the fourth Monday each month at 6:45 pm at The Tavern at Towne Lake. Lions’ clubs are a group of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs. Members of the Woodstock Lions Club were special guests at Cherokee Family Violence Center’s 40th Anniversary Celebration. We all greatly appreciated the efforts of Stephanie Villesenor, CFVC Outreach Coordinator, and all the CFVC volunteers who helped create such a spectacular event for all who attended. The Woodstock Lions Club provides continuous support for this organization to help provide hope and healing to survivors of domestic violence and their children. Thank you CFVS for providing 40 years of service to our community!!

Today the Woodstock Lions Club Foundation made a donation of new T-Shirts to the Goshen Valley Boys Ranch.

Goshen Valley provides hope and healing to foster youth and vulnerable families through relational, trauma-responsive services to cultivate personal healing and generational change. They can always use help in all sorts of ways.

The Woodstock Lions Clubs' held their Club meeting on Monday, March 23rd, at The Tavern at Towne Lake.

The guest was speaker is Becky Jarrell, Georgia Lions International Youth Exchange Chair. Becky talked about the Youth Exchange program and how the Georgia Lions' support the program. Stan Stanly, the Woodstock Lions Club Foundation President, presented Becky with a check for $1,000 from the Woodstock Lions Club Foundation to support the YEP students coming to Georgia in July for three weeks. Becky talked about the YEP students coming to Georgia this Summer and US Georgia students going overseas this Summer. There are 13 YEP students coming to Georgia and 4 to 6 Georgia YEP students traveling abroad. One of the Georgia students is Gabby Elmore, granddaughter of Paul D. Smith from the Woodstock Lions Club Foundation. Gabby was at the meeting last night and talked a little about Finland where she is going for two weeks in late July. Gabby is being sponsored by the Woodstock Lions Club thanks to financial support from her Grandpa Paul. Becky said she still needs financial support & host families for YEP students coming to Georgia this Summer.
