"We want our community to have confidence that our children get a quality education when they come to our schools. We are committed to ensuring the caliber of our diploma prepares students for opportunities beyond high school." Superintendent of Schools Mary Elizabeth Davis spoke to the Rotary Club of Towne Lake today about the state of the school district and our work to continue to be better including the improvements outlined in our Elevate 2032 five-year strategic plan. You can learn more about Elevate 2032 at: https://www.cherokeek12.net/board-of-education/elevate-2032. After sharing an update, she answered questions from members of the civic club on topics ranging from how we're investing more in career education skills for students while also elevating instruction in core learning areas like reading, writing, and mathematics. We're on a mission to be the highest-performing school district in Georgia where our students are learning more, growing more, and achieving more in our classrooms than they could anywhere else!

“Students remember the teachers who believe in them.” Building leaders starts in CCSD with the investment by our teachers, School Board, and community into our students’ success! We invited a group of outstanding students to speak at our back-to-school orientation for new teachers. We asked the students to share what teachers in our schools mean to them. These remarks are from River Ridge High School junior Carter Zwerk: “You may not realize the impact you’re having in the moment, but those conversations, encouragement, and support can stay with your students long after they leave your classroom,” he said. “Students remember the teachers who believe in them. Teachers have an incredible ability to shape a student’s experience through the way they challenge and help them.” We’re on a mission to be the highest-performing school district in Georgia where students are learning more, growing more, and achieving more in our classrooms than they could anywhere else!

“He not only expresses his joy for teaching but radiates it.” Building leaders starts in CCSD with the investment by our teachers, School Board, and community into our students’ success! We invited a group of outstanding students to speak at our back-to-school orientation for new teachers. We asked the students to share what teachers in our schools mean to them. These remarks are from River Ridge High School senior Mia Stiefel about Keith Hooper, her Spanish class teacher: "His classroom felt like a place where I could truly thrive and experience the joy of culture. It is not only what Profe. Hooper does inside of the classroom, but also outside of it – and I mean that literally. Every single day, he waits outside of his door and greets every single student with an enthusiastic ‘¡Buenos días!’ or ‘¡Buenas Tardes!’ which always made my day. He is not only a teacher to me, but a coach as well. His dedication and positivity to the cross-country team is what drives the program. I am so thankful to have a Spanish teacher like Profe. Hooper, who not only expresses his joy for teaching but radiates it.” We’re on a mission to be the highest-performing school district in Georgia where students are learning more, growing more, and achieving more in our classrooms than they could anywhere else!

Friday Night Lights hit different at the new home of Tommy Baker Field! The Cherokee High School Warrior community brought amazing energy to tonight's historic pep rally. To kick off our new era of Warriors football, our varsity players and cheerleaders shared the field with youth program athletes before a cheering crowd, while the Band of Warriors debuted its new fight song on the field and a halftime show sneak peek. The countdown is officially on for the first regular-season home game at the new stadium next Friday at 7:30 p.m. Our new campus was made possible by our community's incredible support for the Education-SPLOST, which continues to ensure our students are learning more, growing more, and achieving more at our schools than they could anywhere else! Once a Warrior, Always a Warrior!
