For those of you who travel along Winters Chapel Road, DeKalb County will soon begin a water main replacement project between Peeler Road and Charmont Drive.

Dates: August through November 2026

Construction Hours: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding major holidays.

DeKalb County will hold a virtual community meeting on Tuesday, July 21, to discuss the launch of Phase 2 of the Dunwoody Knoll Water Main Replacement Project. This is part of DeKalb's ongoing effort to improve the watershed system throughout the county.

Phase 2 is scheduled to start on Monday, July 27. Crews will replace approximately 2,600 linear feet of ductile iron water pipe between Coronation Drive and Redfield Road on Spalding Drive and Chamblee Dunwoody Road.

This water improvement project is expected to last approximately 7 months (July 2026 to February 2027), barring any weather delays.

This project is part of DeKalb County’s $4.27 billion capital improvement program to enhance the capacity and service of the watershed systems that serve the community.

Normal construction hours will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding major holidays. An increase in construction-related noise and traffic during work hours should be expected.

Before We Invest: Thoughtful Capital Planning in Dunwoody

Monday night's City Council agenda covers a wide range of responsibilities—from routine operational items that keep the City running to land use, transportation, parks, public safety, and more.

One item we'll be discussing is a proposed SWAT equipment storage and training facility.

I support providing our Police Department with the facilities and equipment they need to keep our community safe. At the same time, I believe elected officials have a responsibility to ensure the important questions are asked and answered before committing taxpayer dollars to any major capital investment.

For me, every major capital project begins with three questions:
• Why this project?
• Why this location?
• Why now?

I've shared my thoughts—and the questions I'll be asking during Monday night's meeting—in a new blog post.

That's how I feel every year about the Dunwoody 4th of July Parade.

This year's celebration was especially meaningful as our nation celebrated America's 250th anniversary while Dunwoody marked the 50th anniversary of one of our city's most cherished traditions.

I recently shared a personal reflection on what makes this day so special—from the incredible community spirit along the parade route, to riding alongside my fellow City Council members, to why being able to ride my bicycle again continues to fill me with gratitude.

We’ll have concessions for sale TONIGHT during Dunwoody’s America 250 Concert, presented by the Callanwolde Concert Band at the Brook Run Park Amphitheater. The music starts at 7 p.m. And to help with the heat, DeKalb County reps will join us with FREE Italian ice. Stop by the park early for the unveiling of a Blue Star Marker at the Brook Run Park Memorial Plaza at 5:30 p.m. All are invited! Callanwolde Fine Arts Center concert band. America 250 Concert & Blue Star Marker

5:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend the unveiling of a Blue Star Marker at the Brook Run Park Memorial Plaza. Donated by the Dunwoody Garden Club, the Blue Star Marker is a patriotic memorial installed to pay tribute to the men and women who have served, or are serving, in the United States Armed Forces.

After the dedication, participants will march together with a ceremonial drummer from the Georgia State Defense Force Band to the Brook Run Park Amphitheater to enjoy the America 250 Concert.

Free concert at 7 p.m.

Presented by the Callanwolde Concert Band, the free concert starts at 7 p.m. and will feature musical tributes to the nation’s history. In addition, the National Colors will be presented by the Georgia State Defense Force Color Guard. Families are invited to enjoy the music, games on the Great Lawn, and concessions for purchase by NFA Burger. Plus FREE Italian ice, courtesy of DeKalb County.
