📖 Understanding & Enhancing Farm Stories
Led by Professor Peter Roberts and Robinson Garces Marin, this directed study connects students (graduate and undergraduate) with coffee growers throughout Central America to cultivate improved economic opportunity by empowering them to craft and tell their own farm stories, which include written narratives (farm stories) that can be shared on websites or on coffee bags.
🔎 Case Analysis of Pachamama Coffee
Led by Professors Robert Kazanjian and Peter Roberts, this directed study will engage a small group of research-oriented students (undergraduate) to develop teaching case on Pachamama Coffee, a 100% farmer-owned coffee company a roasting facility and several retail locations in California.
📈 Plan for Café Capacidades Pilot
Led by Professor Peter Roberts, this directed study builds on the previous work of students to identify retail platforms that can feature specialty coffee grown by individuals and families who support and / or include people with disabilities in their farms and / or broader community ecosystems. This Fall, a small group of communications-savvy students (undergraduate) will develop and launch a pilot that will roast and sell roughly 450 pounds of coffee grown by Ángel and his family in San Miguel Escobar, Guatemala.
Beginning immediately, the Institute will consider applications as they come in and make decisions on a rolling basis.
