Congratulations to our Executive Director Melinda Lemmon on being awarded the Rip Wiley Award for Professional Excellence by the Georgia Economic Developers Association (GEDA). This award recognizes a GEDA member with at least 10 years of economic development experience for professionalism, honor, integrity, leadership, hard work, and contributions to the profession.

This is one of the most prestigious individual awards given to economic development professionals by GEDA. Congratulations Melinda and we are so thankful for all you have done and continue to do for Bartow County.

SAKAI America marked a milestone for its Adairsville factory, as its 1,000th SV544 soil compactor was produced last month. The machine’s inspection was completed Aug. 26.

Anheuser-Busch announced a new $9.2 million investment in its Cartersville brewery. The investment will go toward upgrading brewing equipment to fuel increased production of Michelob ULTRA.

We were honored to host the August Georgia Economic Developer's Association (GEDA) Monthly Luncheon in Cartersville on Monday!

The program, "Georgia's Economic Development Playbook: Essentials for Winning Teams", featured a panel that included our community's own Cindy Williams with the Cartersville-Bartow County Chamber of Commerce, Lillie Read with the Cartersville DDA, Steven Schumacher with Cartersville Museum City, and Melinda Lemmon with the Cartersville-Bartow County Department of Economic Development, and moderated by Josh Brock (Go Dawgs!).

We owe tremendous gratitude to GEDA for allowing us the opportunity to host, and we appreciate the generous staff at the Clarence Brown Conference Center for graciously accommodating the event.

We also owe thanks to the Savoy Automobile Museum and Tom Shinall for hosting the GEDA Young Professionals on an exclusive tour of the museum!

Today we celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony for Yakult U.S.A!

We are humbled and excited that progress is underway for their brand new production facility that will invest significantly in our community and create more than 90 new, well-paying jobs.

Soon, their renown (and may we add delicious) probiotic beverages available in stores nationwide will be produced right here in Bartow County!

Teamwork makes the dream work! We appreciate the many partners involved!



Georgia and Bartow County are fortunate to have been selected by Yakult after a long, competitive process.

Although many of the innovative products made in Bartow aren’t necessarily seen on consumer shelves, we are home to some internationally recognized brandnames like Anheuser-Busch, Toyo Tire, Komatsu, and Yanmar. We welcome Yakult to that distinguished list, and value the trust they have placed in Bartow, and the credibility their quality brand adds to our community.

Their yogurt-like products have been in our local grocery stores for years. Soon it will be exciting to know that our friends and neighbors help make that yummy Yakult!

Yakult values STEM education, and often hosts school tours. Their manufacturing facility will be bespoke to their high-quality, food-grade manufacturing needs. There property is part of the Highland 75 Corporate/Industrial Park established over 20 years ago in 2004. Even though they just broke ground, they are already a good tax-paying, corporate citizen. They look forward to providing quality career opportunities for talented local citizens when the facility nears construction completion.

Fun fact: The company supports the Japanese baseball team, the Yakult Swallows! Play ball!
