Attention Hall County Voters:

You deserve the truth. A fraudulent endorsement was made under the guise of our organization - for a Republican - in our Blue Notes newsletter. Please consider this an official retraction.

Laura Colannino, our email admin, was solely responsible for the endorsement for Andy Maddox in the judicial run off. Our bylaws require a vote for our committee to endorse anyone, and that vote never occurred. When I asked her to retract, she refused, and blocked me from the account.

Further, Andy Maddox is a Republican. And while any unauthorized endorsement is a problem, a fraudulent endorsement of a member of the other party is particularly egregious.

I apologize for any confusion or mistrust this may have caused.

Some of Martin Luther King Jr.'s most impactful words are those that get the least amount of attention, because they are some of his most radical.

"A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death.”

“The evils of capitalism are as real as the evils of militarism and racism. The problems of racial injustice and economic injustice cannot be solved without a radical redistribution of political and economic power."

“We know through painful experience that freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed.”

When we celebrate this great leader today, let us not whitewash and cherry-pick his legacy. Instead, let us listen most carefully to his words that make us the most uncomfortable.
