🥊 🩵 Fighting for a future without Parkinson’s!

We’re excited to spotlight Omni Fight Club Roswell and their upcoming Parkinson’s Foundation Community Fundraiser & Awareness Event!

This cause is close to the Omni Fight Club community’s heart. Through boxing-inspired movement, strength training, stability work and supportive coaching, they’ve seen firsthand how movement and community can help people with Parkinson’s feel more confident, capable and encouraged.

The event will bring the community together to raise funds, spread awareness and connect people with Parkinson’s, their families and care partners with helpful local resources. 🩵

They’ve already kicked off their fundraising with selling 50 wristbands at $5 a piece, and now they’re inviting the community to join them in making an even bigger impact!

We are honored to have Dr. Thomas Wichmann presenting at our upcoming Parkinson's Symposium from 11:15-11:55am on the topic of Advanced Treatment Options.

Dr. Wichmann received medical training in Germany, followed by postdoctoral training in pharmacology and electrophysiology at the University of Freiburg (Germany) and at Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, MD). In the early 1990s, he completed residency training in Neurology at Emory University (Atlanta, GA), and has been a professor in the movement disorder division in the Department of Neurology at Emory since then, focusing his research efforts on brain activity changes that are associated with Parkinson’s disease, and the effects of DBS and other treatments on brain networks. Almost all of his studies are conducted at the Emory National Biomedical Research Center where he also serves as Deputy Director. Dr. Wichmann is the director of the NIH-funded Udall Center of Excellence in Parkinson’s Disease Research at Emory, leads Emory’s APDA Center for Advanced Research, and is PI of one the ASAP research teams.

The Georgia Chapter is excited to share that Orla McQuade will be presenting on A Better Model for Parkinson's Care at our upcoming Parkinson's Symposium from 10:40-11:15am.

Orla McQuade, MSN, FNP-C, CMRD is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and a 2016 graduate of Emory University’s MSN program. Since 2017, she has served in Emory’s Movement Disorders Clinic, providing specialized care to patients with movement disorders. She has held CMRD certification since 2025, reflecting her advanced expertise in the care and management of patients with movement disorders. Orla is the Lead Advanced Practice Provider for Neurology at Emory, where she supports APP development, clinical quality, and multidisciplinary coordination across the department. She also serves as the Coordinator for the Movement Disorders APP Fellowship, helping design curriculum, mentor fellows, and advance training pathways for APPs pursuing specialization in movement disorders. In addition to her clinical and leadership roles, Orla is adjunct faculty at the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing.

This will be a great presentation on the efforts that are being made to improve the care people living with Parkinson's receive.

We are thrilled to have Dr. Evan Johnson presenting on our Hospital Safety Guide at this weekend's Parkinson's Symposium from 10:10-10:40am.

Dr. Evan Johnson is a neurologist at Piedmont Fayette specializing in Movement Disorders, with a focus on Parkinson's Disease and Essential Tremor, including Deep Brain Stimulation and Botox therapy. He earned his medical degree at UT Houston and completed his residency and fellowship at Vanderbilt.
