Slick Rick’s company was involved in human trafficking.

As billionaire Republican Rick Jackson blanketed Georgia's airwaves this spring with ads vowing a crackdown on undocumented immigrants if elected governor, a company in his healthcare empire was in the throes of a costly legal battle over the treatment of its immigrant workforce.

Avant denied wrongdoing. But on June 22 — days after Jackson became the GOP nominee for governor — the company agreed to a settlement that would give more than 5,000 current and former immigrant workers a share of a $3 million payout and waive unpaid fees. https://cnn.it/4gFc9Ia

District 4 is ready for change.

This is Rick Jackson’s Executive Team. Look closely, not one racial minority sits on it. Yet he’s quick to show up at Black restaurants for votes and photo ops, without showing that same effort when it comes to hiring minorities for senior leadership.

Rick Jackson, the Republican nominee for Georgia governor, recently unveiled a proposal aimed at boosting minority-owned businesses and revitalizing historically Black business districts across the state, including Atlanta’s Sweet Auburn corridor.

But Democratic nominee Keisha Lance Bottoms says Jackson is pitching ideas she already put into practice as Atlanta mayor, when her administration backed minority- and women-owned businesses through grants, low-interest loans and other economic development programs.

Jackson is also the founder of Jackson Healthcare, whose executive leadership team presents a stark contrast to the Black business owners he has highlighted on the campaign trail.

Vote Gil McDougal for District 4!

I support an immediate one-year moratorium on new data centers in Douglas County so we can take a closer look at what we already have and the impact continued growth could have on our community.

A moratorium is not anti-growth. It is responsible government. We should evaluate what we already have before approving more.

I believe we need to carefully evaluate infrastructure impacts, existing commitments, and whether the benefits promised to Douglas County residents are actually being delivered before moving forward with additional data-center development.
