Cobb County Department of Emergency Communications (DEC) is a 24-hour, toll-free voice for emergency calls for service. (770-499-3911)
Our 911 professionals are the *first* first responder, and they are CPR, Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) Emergency Police Dispatch (EPD) and Emergency Fire Dispatch (EFD) certified, enabling them to give life saving instructions until help arrives. Cobb County E91

1 dispatches units for the Cobb County Police and Fire Departments, Marietta Police and Fire Departments, Powder Springs Police department, the Cobb County Sheriff's Office, and Cobb County Animal Services. All DEC personnel are TDD (Telecommunications Device for the Deaf) and TTY (Teletypewriter) certified for the deaf and hearing impaired. By federal law, access to 911 must be provided to the deaf and hearing impaired. We also allow text-to-911 for those who are hearing impaired or otherwise unable to make a voice call for any reason. The DEC operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Mission Statement:

Congratulations to Jamie and Desmond on completing the United Leadership Program!

Over the past eight months, they explored leading change, strategy, innovation, and people, with training in strategic planning, project management, change management, and more. Their journey included online coursework, engaging speakers, and interactive sessions alongside a cohort of 30 public safety professionals.

The journey culminated last week with the program’s graduation at Governors Gun Club, featuring Cobb County Director of Public Safety Mike Register as the keynote speaker. Jamie and Desmond each received a program completion plaque and a Certificate in Leadership Excellence from Kennesaw State University’s Coles College of Business.

Beyond the training and certificates, the experience provided opportunities to build valuable professional connections and friendships across the public safety community.

A special thank you to Dan Stotz, The Leadership Collaborative, the program sponsors, and Smyrna Fire Chief Brian Marcos for their leadership and commitment to creating an exceptional development experience for public safety professionals.
