Life may be busy and chaotic, but today is special. Today, in 1865, the last enslaved people in Galveston TX found out that they were freed. It took two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was officially signed for them to hear it but once they once they made to never forget it.
Today is about remembering that day and celebrating actually freedom. Where those once slaved people were deemed as people and not property.
In honor that we rejoice, celebrate, and show ta our resilience that no matter what, we still rise and overcome.
