Autistic minds see the world differently, and that’s something to celebrate 💛

Different perspectives bring new ideas, creativity and ways of understanding the world around us. When we embrace neurodiversity, we create stronger, more inclusive communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive!

This World Autism Month, let’s continue to celebrate differences, uplift voices and build a world where every mind is valued.

Registration is now open for this free, in-person program taking place on Tuesday, April 28th at Emory Autism Center, "Caregiver Burnout in Autism: Understanding Chronic Stress and Strengthening Parent Resilience."

Parents of children with autism often experience sustained, high-intensity stress related to behavioral support needs, advocacy demands, educational navigation, healthcare coordination, and long-term planning. Over time, this chronic stress can contribute to caregiver burnout, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, and strain within family systems.

This presentation will examine caregiver burnout through a trauma-informed and neurobiologically informed framework. Participants will explore how prolonged stress impacts emotional regulation, executive functioning, identity, and relational dynamics. The session integrates current understanding of stress physiology with practical, evidence-informed strategies that support caregiver resilience and sustainable family functioning.

This event is free, but limited seats are available. For more information and to reserve your spot, please visit https://www.eventbrite.com/e/caregiver-burnout-in-autism-tickets-1987001073700

Words matter. Awareness and acceptance don't mean the same thing:

Awareness means recognizing that someone is there.
Acceptance means making space, building connection and truly valuing who they are.

This World Autism Month, we encourage you to move beyond awareness and lean into acceptance: listening to autistic voices, embracing differences and creating a world where everyone feels seen, supported and included 💙

Because acceptance is where real change begins.

Registration is now open for the 12th Annual Autism Conference & Expo of Georgia, taking place on Friday, May 1st 2026 at Georgia State University. The theme this year is Georgia Grown: From Research to Reality — emphasizing work across Georgia where individuals and teams are “growing” solutions to challenges facing individuals with autism, their families, and communities of support. The goal is to lift solutions "rooted" in Georgia with "leaves and fruit" providing shade, sustenance, and support at any level - from local to international.

Caregivers, individuals with autism, educators, interventionists, clinicians, researchers, students and administrators are invited to participate in this event.

The Autism Conference & Expo is an annual event that provides an opportunity to share knowledge and resources about support for individuals with autism and their families in Georgia. The Autism Conference & Expo represents the collaboration and contributions of an alliance of leading self-advocates, family members, community partners, state agencies, and other stakeholders.

We will share research findings on program outcomes and implementation, along with panel perspectives from DPH staff, BCW providers, parents, and community psychologists regarding their experiences, strengths of the model, and ongoing challenges.

Just a reminder: autism doesn’t have a “look.” It’s not something you can see on the outside, and invisible doesn't mean imaginary.

Disability doesn’t need to be visible to be real. Autism is present in all genders, ages, nationalities, cultures- everywhere!
