Today is Overdose Awareness Day 💜

Overdose can affect anyone, anywhere — but together, we can help save lives through awareness, compassion, and action.

Knowing the signs of an overdose and having Naloxone (Narcan) on hand can make all the difference in an emergency. Naloxone is safe, easy to use, and reverses an opioid overdose.

For Naloxone distribution, contact District 4’s Opioid Public Health Analyst, LeTasha Powers, at [email protected]. Naloxone is provided after completing the appropriate training. Naloxone is also available over the counter at many local pharmacies.

⚠ All Clear: Threat Investigation at Plant Yates ⚠

On Monday afternoon at 1:41 p.m., Coweta County 911 received a call from the Georgia Power security team regarding a bomb threat note written on the wall of a portable toilet at Plant Yates, located at 708 Dyer Road. Approximately 800 staff members and workers were immediately evacuated from the facility as state and federal partners arrived to investigate and inspect the threat. Local agencies, including the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office with K9 units, Coweta County Fire Rescue, and Coweta County 911/Emergency Management Agency (EMA), assisted in the response.

No devices were found at the facility, and public safety officials cleared the potential threat.

Dyer Road is now open to the public.

-Before: Be honest and calm — say "quick pinch" not "pain."
-During: Bring their favorite toy or blanket, distract with a song or story, and for little ones — breastfeeding or a sweet drink can help.
-After: Cuddles, swaddling, and soft whispers go a long way.

Mild fussiness or soreness after vaccines is normal and goes away quickly.

Fentanyl is a powerful opioid — just a few grains can be deadly. It's now being found in fake pills and other drugs, often without people knowing.

Today on National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day, we honor lives lost and spread awareness to save others.

District 4 Public Health offers FREE Narcan (naloxone), fentanyl test strips, education, and linkage to care at all 12 county health departments. No judgment, just help.

The new school year has begun, so don't forget vaccines!

Pre-teens need 3 important vaccines at 11-12 years: Tdap, Human papillomavirus, and Meningococcal conjugate vaccine to protect against tetanus, cancers caused by HPV, and meningitis.

District 4 Public Health offers low-cost vaccines, immunization records, at all 12 county health departments. district4health.org/immunizations.
