Weekly Update

Walks Between Waters
The new mural project on the Ausable Theater will be completed and dedicated this coming week. To celebrate the installation, a Walls Between Waters Artist Talk with Miss Teal will be held Monday, June 1, at 6:00 PM at the Community Center. The talk is free and open to the public.
The official mural dedication and community celebration will take place at the Ausable Theater mural site on Friday, June 5, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Bring the family out to enjoy live music, food trucks, and plenty of kid-friendly activities.

Vivid Life Fun Run
Join us on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the Jay Village Green for the annual Vivid Life 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run and Walk. Registration opens at 9:00 AM, and the race starts at 10:00 AM. This community event proudly benefits the Essex County Su***de Prevention Coalition to spread the vital message, "You Are Not Alone." Advance registration is available on Eventbrite, with individual tickets starting at $15 for the 1-Mile and $20 for the 5K. Groups of four or more receive a discount, and kids ages 5 and under are free.
The excitement continues after the finish line with a Community and Family Fun festival from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Bring a lawn chair and stick around to enjoy live music, food trucks, Dog Father Ice Cream, and a basket raffle. Check out the attached flyer to register today.

Weekly Update:

Visitor Center Ribbon Cutting
The Au Sable River Valley Business Association of NY Visitor Center held its ribbon-cutting ceremony last night, marking the opening of the Northern Gateway to Essex County and the Adirondacks. Thank you to everyone who came out to show their support. You can see a photo from the event attached to this update.
The Visitor Center will operate during the following hours:
• Wednesdays: 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
• Thursdays: 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm
• Fridays: 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
• Saturdays: 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
Please stop in, say hello to manager Eleri Smith, and learn more about our town and the surrounding region.

Amnesty Day Success
Last Saturday, we hosted our biannual Amnesty Day at the Highway Garage on Valley Road. Many residents took advantage of the opportunity to clear out clutter, dispose of old tires, and safely recycle old electronics.
All of our bins were completely full by 11:00 am. In just a four-hour period, we collected over two tandem loads of scrap metal, 4 bins of waste, 1 bin of tires, and Ewaste gathered more than 3,000 pounds of electronics. I would like to extend a big thank you to the Highway Department for doing a fantastic job expediting the unloading of cars, trucks, and trailers to keep everything moving smoothly.

Grievance Day Information
Following the assessment notices sent out last month, the official tax rolls were published on May 1st. Grievance Day will take place this Tuesday, May 26th, at the Community Center starting at 3:00 pm.
If you would like to schedule a specific time to avoid a long wait, please call the assessor's office to secure an appointment. You are also welcome to stop by and wait for the next available opening in the schedule. Holiday Hours
The Town of Jay, NY Offices and the Community Center will be closed on Monday, May 25th, in observance of Memorial Day. Normal operations will resume on Tuesday morning. Please enjoy the holiday weekend with your friends and family, and take a moment to remember all of the service members who gave everything for our country.

The second concert in a 6 concert series with the Upper Jay Art Center...

Gear up for another amazing concert in the Recovery Lounge! Isaac Newcomb plays with texture and introspection, groove and self-deprecating humor in his unique flavor of alternative pop. His warm vocals nestle into soundscapes that blend synthesized and environmental sounds: electric pianos morph into burbling creeks; a kick drum is born from a stomp on the Jackrabbit trail. He hopes his songs provide a space to lose yourself, whether in thought or on the dance floor.

This concert is part of a series generously funded by the Town of Jay. As such, it is a FREE event for residents of Jay and the surrounding communities. Donations are still welcome to benefit Upper Jay Art Center and Recovery Lounge. We appreciate RSVP via the event page, or email to [email protected].
