Taymouth Township Historical Association will hold their monthly meeting on Monday October 19, 2026, beginning at 7:00 pm. The meeting will be held at the Burt Opera House, located at 12888 Nichols Road in Burt. We will be discussing upcoming events, including our annual Veterans Day program. When we talk about Heros, I can't think of one person more deserving of that title than Craig Goslin. The transformational effects he has had on our Dow Event Center; through the catalyst that is the Saginaw Spirit has driven that positive change for the County of Saginaw.

The 2024 Memorial Cup was yet another piece of driving that transformational change; which not only brought $40M of economic impact to Saginaw County; it has helped propel further enthusiasm for development in Saginaw; including all of the new projects in the Medical Diamond Cooridor which will continue to drive that positive change.

Craig's passion and love for Saginaw County and the greater Region have made our place and the people connected to it better. This interview captures so much of that passion and love.

Good Monday morning!

Yesterday’s sermon stayed with me all day, especially this reminder: “None of us is perfect,” and we can “focus on the positive.”

"Doomscrolling" was mentioned, and it had me thinking about social media and how easily we can fall into “doomscrolling.” The constant stream of criticism and conflict can be discouraging, and we all deserve a little encouragement.

I’m grateful for all of our neighbors, volunteers, and public servants who show up every day to make our communities better. Across backgrounds and political beliefs, people listen, solve problems, lend a hand, and care for one another. There is so much good worth noticing—and sharing.

None of us gets everything right. We can give one another a little grace, approach our differences with empathy, and keep working toward something positive together.

I want to thank the volunteers from all political parties who step forward each year to serve as election workers in Birch Run, Frankenmuth, and Taymouth, along with our local clerks and the dedicated team at the Saginaw County Clerk's Office’s Office.

Michigan’s election procedures require bipartisan teams for key responsibilities, including assisting voters who request instruction after entering a voting station, opening tabulating equipment when necessary, sealing election materials, and delivering sealed ballots and documents after the polls close. These checks and balances help protect the security and accountability of our elections.

These workers are our friends and neighbors. They bring different political perspectives to a shared responsibility: helping every eligible voter participate and ensuring votes are counted accurately.

Thank you for your patience, professionalism, and service each election season. When you head to the polls, please take a moment to thank the people helping our democracy work!

Regional champions! Congratulations to the Frankenmuth High School girls golf team on winning the Division 3 regional championship at West Branch Country Club!

The Eagles posted a team score of 387, led by Maxie Schmidt’s fourth-place 88 and Ainsley Roberts’ fifth-place 89. Congratulations to Maxie, Ainsley, Madelynn Goodwin and Charlyze Jones—and to the coaches and families supporting this team!

Proud to see these student-athletes representing Frankenmuth and Saginaw County. Best of luck at the state meet October 16–17 at Ferris State. We’ll be cheering you on!
