We are currently seeking 2023 partners to support our mission as the Augusta Sports Council to host events which will provide exposure for the Augusta area as a sports destination. Each event assists in enhancing our community by supporting local economic development efforts through sports tourism. Since our start, 800+ events have been supported, recruited, or created by the ASC. From the small to the multi-sport, these events have attracted 450,000+ athletes to the area, leaving behind more than $200 million in economic impact. 🥇It's a wrap at TEAMS '22 OKC from this bunch of Georgia peaches!We enjoyed working alongside our friends from Cobb County,ATL Airport District,Gwinnett,Valdosta,and Alpharetta to promote our state and cities as a sports destination to our 60+ client appointments this week. Looking forward to bringing some new events to Augusta in 2023/2024 from the connections and leads that we've made this week in Oklahoma City!

It's that time of year again where we have the opportunity to spread holiday cheer to children in the CSRA. This past Saturday, more than 100 children were invited to this year's 4th annual Richmond County Marshal's Office & (AGS) Augusta Regional Airport's Santa Fly-In Toy Drive. Staff with both departments, along with their families and community partners, shopped off each child's wish list. Each family received a meal to take home and cook for Christmas day. The Grinch, Cindy Lou Who, Elsa, Anna, Mrs. Clause, and Santa joined in on the fun as the kids danced, made crafts, jumped in bouncy houses, and enjoyed a Christmas morning breakfast. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate for Santa to fly in, but the Children's Medical College of Georgia's Air Care was on hand to fly him back to the North Pole once the event ended.
This event has become a favorite among many at the Marshal's Office and Augusta Regional Airport. But, of course, the most special part is to see the joy the event brings to their faces. This is what makes us .

Introducing “Team Living On A Spare" competing in Augusta 70.3 this Sunday. We are a relay team made up of living kidney donors…each one of us has unselfishly donated one of our kidney’s to someone who needed it. Mike Gaw, the swimmer, is from Miami, Florida. He donated one of his kidneys to his mom back in March 2010. Laura Starkey Hanby, the cyclist, is from Wilmington, NC and she donated one of her kidneys to a cousin in April 2015. While myself, the runner from Nashville, TN, donated my kidney in March 2020 to a dear friend.
Mike has completed an ironman on every continent…he completed the last one about a year after donating his kidney. Laura has competed in several triathlons (all after donating her kidney), but the 56 mile bike ride will be her longest ride to date. And I have done over 30 triathlons (of various distances), and completed 3 since my donation.
Our main goal is to have fun and raise awareness about kidney & organ donation. We want to show the world (especially athletes), that you can lead normal, active and healthy lives after donating a kidney.
