Welcome to SWAN- Social Workers Advocate Now. We came up with this name since it reflects our mission to advocate and take action on behalf of vulnerable and marginalized populations. The black swan is “an unpredictable event that is beyond what is normally expected of a situation & has potentially severe consequences. Black swan events are characterized by their rarity, their severe impact, and the widespread insistence they were obvious in hindsight” as posited by Nasdim Nicholas Taleb.
