Last night, some of our guests stood before City Council and shared their stories, their realities, and their voices. We are incredibly proud of their courage and grateful they chose to speak not only for themselves, but for so many others who are unhoused and navigating instability every day.

When we headed back, we got some T-Bell party packs and had the opportunity to watch those moments back together… reflecting not only on what was said, but on the impact it had. Watching our guests realize that their voices matter, that they were heard, and that their experiences can create change was something truly powerful.

We are humbled to stand beside them.

Their stories matter and this work is far from over.

The need is far from over. Our local shelters continue to have to operate on waitlists.. people are still going hungry, still needing clothing, and are still seeking resources outside our center every single day.

On June 9th, we’ll be presenting at city hall to share more about the impact this community has made, thank those who have played integral roles in this work, and create space for guest voices, reflection, and what comes next.

Becoming Church and our community remain committed to walking alongside our guests, meeting needs, and building community together.

The need is still here. The work continues. And our neighbors’ voices will continue leading the way.

We would like to thank every single member of the community that came out to support our very first Telling Our Stories Showcase! This event was more than mingling and getting together. This was about creating real human connection and a call to action. Our guests were able to express themselves freely and show that they’re not outsiders, but members of the same society and community. Thank you to John for Aurora for showing up for his neighbors and addressing the concerns they had in realtime and outlining a plan!

May this be the beginning of something beautiful.

This Sunday, May 3rd from 2–5 PM, we’re coming together to hear real voices, experiences, and the impact this past warming center season had on our community.

With recent campsite sweeps, shelters at capacity, and so much uncertainty right now, creating space for community matters more than ever.

2:00–3:30 PM
Food and music, guided tours through the warming center to experience what a typical night looks like, and the Museum of Voices + showcase art on display throughout the space.

3:30–5:00 PM
A special showcase highlighting the impact of the warming center that includes a guest voices panel!!

We hope to see you there!
