Wow! 45 years in the Fire Service.
When I look back to that day, I had to give Chief Lee Besor 15.00 dollar for membership. That was the best 15.00 I ever spent.
Joined the Fire Service June 24, 1981 Travis Co. Fire Control, aka TCESD #4. Assigned to Station 4, Company 4, Engine 4, located on N. Lamar just north of Braker Ln. Busiest Engine Company in the district. I started as a firefighter worked through the ranks driver, Lt. Captain. When I was Captain, I had three Lt’s, 6 divers, 20 fire personnel. In 1996 Chief Don Smith promoted me to District Chief. I as no longer with an engine company after 15 years.
The 34 years I was with TCFC aka TCESD #4, also served as a Fire Instructor at our fire academy which started 2000 they tested with Texas Fire Commission to become certified fire fighters, 9 years red card wildland firefighter/task force leader, contact fire instructor for Texas Forest Service. I must say I really miss those days, great firefighters they will always be my brothers and sisters. The largest wildland fire i fought with TCFC and other local Travis Co. Fire departments March 1988 The Big Country Complex Fire, burned 300,000ac. During my career with TCESD #4 30,000 plus calls my hair was white at 30 years old. Lmao

My paid job, I worked for the Department of Defense @ Fort Hood FD. January 1991 to October 2014. Retired as a firefighter/engineer, the chief that promoted me to engineer told me they really hate you and I don’t know why, I called your Fire Chief and reference they speak very highly of you. The he responded, I didn’t know you are a District Chief. Bingo..that’s probably it is Chief. I am a threat to them and their plans. Chief, do you know I also work part-time at Lago Vista and Cedar Park FD as a fill in firefighter until they get a fully paid fire department. He responded, don’t tell them.
2016 Joined Sooner VFD, when I started there their ISO rating was 9. Presently they are 4.

It’s with incredible sadness that I share the passing of Ronny Taylor on Saturday June 6th.
It appears Ronny passed away in his recliner while watching tv.
There are no details about arrangements at this time but will be posted as soon as known. RiP sweet Ronny!
